Hi there, I am vegetarian, and as I usual I ordered the "veggie" burger at this place. Thing is that this time they came up with a "stuff" that tasted like meat and looked like meat and apparently wasn't meat! Why anyone will order that!! Matt, the manager, refused to accept that was a meat and obliged me to eat... More

Bar staff seem to lack knowledge of the beer they serve. Ordered a Youngs Special and was told that the barrel was being changed. Fair enough but the bar staff suggested a 'golden' ale as a substitute when there were other much better choices. Settled for a Youngs bitter which in my 40 years of drinking this beer was the... Great pub in centre of Oxford with a wide range of Youngs & guest beers; all excellently kept & fresh. Food is also very good with a wide selection from burgers to home cooked pies, faggots, liver & bacon. Friendly staff & very accommodating of dogs, with dog water bowls & treats available when you order your drinks. All on... More

Visited twice on my trip to Oxford. Had a lively pie and was nice place to sit out of the hustle and bustle however don't think the staff are very happy. On both visit I heard two separate members of staff swearing about other staff. Understand that not everyone gets on but don't do it in front of customers maybe.... More

I like this pub, but I'm really unsure whether I was overcharged or the prices are extortionate. £21,95 for a g&t, vodka lime & soda and a pint of lager? To me this seems ridiculous. Staff looked down on us and tables were quite dirty. Used to love going here but now something needs to be done!

Neat old place convenient in Oxford. Good selection of beers and some ok wines. Food was very mediocre and not worth the calories or $.

Visited this interesting old pub while in Oxford for the day.The barman was a really friendly guy.We had a nice beer and some of their home made pies and scotch eggs ,yummy so tasty.Seemed a very popular place too with lots of customers coming and going. Also had outdoor seating for the warmer days.

After a nice evening with friends I forgot my bag containing my laptop, phone and iPad at the pub. I called the owner when i realised it was missing. He found my bag but refused to put it somewhere safe because he can't be held 'legally responsible'. Obviously I was not going to hold anyone responsible if my bag was... More
