The meadow is bounded by the River Thames, the River Cherwell and Christ Church on the edge of the city of Oxford and is a large paddock open to the public, thanks to Christ Church who own the pasture.

Enjoyed a leisurely walk around Christ Church meadow and trails in a crisp fall morning. Beautiful, quiet an scenic it has a different feel from the center of town.

and if lucky, you can see a special breed of cows with horns. A thoroughfare to a few walks around the area. Lovely one towards Head of the river and onto River Thames. Great for walks,

Step off of St Aldate’s and into a beautiful sanctuary of architecture, flowers and serenity as you walk through the meadow and father along the river if you wish.

Lofty views all around, from church spires & bell towers to colorful gardens & duck families. Highly recommended, especially on a warm day

It was a warm, sunny April afternoon and following my visit to Christ Church College I had time for a gentle stroll in this lovely green space down to the river and back.

We started a guided tour of Oxford from here. Our guide was very interesting and pointed out the unusual Venetian style of one of the college buildings. He also showed us the ancient border of the Kingdom of Mercia which runs through the grounds near the river. Although private property the public are permitted to walk through during the daylight hours when the gates are left open.

There are many comments about how wonderful it is to walk the meadow and I am sure that is the case most of the year. However, when we visited the day was cold and snowy and we only spent a little time viewing the beauty of the meadow. With that said, it was beautiful, especially a clear, cold day. The meadow did provide for the backdrop for our Harry Potter picture as a part of our tour that included discussion for inspiration for the book and movie and filming scenes. Per our guide, the meadow did serve as scene from quidage games. Again the meadow was beautiful. However, the day we visited was not made for long walks in it.
