Often in Nottingham and when possible will pop into the art centre to view exhibition and refreshments in the café. The building itself may not pass a beauty contest but the exhibitions are certainly up there with the best. Current exhibition is no exception and being of an age when I can remember only too well the attitudes on display,... More

Attended the free Family Photo Booth event at the Contemporary today with my 7 and 4 year olds. It was a great event, we had a cool family picture taken which was beamed onto the walls. The kids then got a print each to customise. Lots of nice craft materials to use, friendly staff, cool environment and fun ideas! And... More

What the title says really. Don't let the ugly exterior put you off, this is an excellent space for displaying a wide range of art. The majority of the current exhibition wasn't to our taste but art is meant to evoke a reaction - it doesn't have to be a positive one. Pop in if your are in the area... More

It's one of the great contemporary galleries - up there with Walsall, Turner Margate, and Tatenhill Modern, but on an intimate scale. Cooperation with local universities seems to help. Really good temporary exhibitions programme. Also a film programme, talks and souvies (but no combs).

OK art is subjective - this is a free gallery so you can't criticise it. If you're passing, see what's on and if you don't like - move on. We called in and it didn't work for us, another time it might. We do support art galleries as an opportunity to see different reflections of life.

From the outside I'm not keen on how the gallery looks, although inside it's a different story. Another series of amazing spaces put aside to give us access to contemporary culture. Today we saw the "The place is here" exhibition. We found it very moving and it's shocking to read about things that happened in your lifetime that reflect attitudes... More

Walked past on my way to get some food so had to stop by on the way back. Overall the exhibition was well set out and just incredibly moving. Some touching pieces and I wish I could have stayed longer. Gift shop was also wonderful, not your average tat.

If you love the new this is the place for you. I have been a few times. My wife hates modern art and spends the trip grumbling but I think there are features she secretly likes. Great coffee bar in the basement. Good shop with some unusual things. Check out the exhibition first as some are well wacky!

The exterior reminds me of a portacabin although the colours and lace texture are a nice touch. The galleries are of a decent size and quality. The exhibitions are variable.. ..at their best they are varied ,genuinely interesting and incorporate exceptional work. Many or most of the exhibitions are dull, tedious and a bit pretentious. Most of the ratings are ultra... More
