A magnificent 17th century ducal mansion built on the site of the original Medieval Castle. The Castle has a turbulent past, linked to kings and conquerors and still has a maze of original caves hidden beneath its imposing walls. Now the building houses a Museum & Art Gallery, offering visitors an opportunity to see the best regional, national and international art in the regularly changing exhibition galleries. Plus the permanent exhibitions showcase costume and textiles, silverware, glass and a glimpse into Nottingham's history.

It is a Ducal house, not a castle. There were previously castles at the site, though, one of which was burned down by the Nottingham people during a riot. The grounds are nice. The museum inside is okay, I guess, if you haven't been going...More

I'm not sure "castle" is the right word to describe this building. There is absolutely nothing about it that looks like a castle. It is in fact a stately home with interesting exhibitions inside. I grew up listening to stories of Robin Hood and the...More

The castle was beautiful place to visit. We went on our last day and found out it was a free day to visit which was a added plus for us. One wee downside the elevator was so slow.

I liked the cave tour at Nottingham Castle because of the tour guide and the whole experience in total. There you have the caves and the guide tells you stories that happened there, but you just get to see the caves. City of... More
