We completed a 22 kilometre hike which took in Kinder Scout and Jacob's Ladder. The whole area is amazing, such stunning scenery. Luckily, when we went in June the weather was kind to us meaning the views across the valleys were impressive, and that we didn't need our waterproofs, torches etc. Others may not be so lucky so make sure... We trekked up to the top of Kinder Scout with our three kids aged 15, 11 & 7 years, plus our dog! We made sure we picked a day with a good clear forecast & took a map & a picnic, & wore proper walking boots. Jacobs ladder was great, really pretty. The paths do vary a lot, some are... More

I had climbed Snowdonia twice and recently scrambled up Helwynn so I had wanted to conquer this one. I enjoy walking but realised I needed guiding up and safely down during the winter months. I had no local knowledge and whilst I was fit to walk, I was aware of my inexperience in climbing. There are many routes to the... More

We decided to walk on the Pennine way from Edale village. The route was long and difficult, especially when climbing Jacobs Ladder. We did not actually walk onto Kinder itself, but decided to take the circular walk on the outskirts which took us back to Edale village. The views were amazing. However, we noticed the footpaths had worn away and... More

Any walk on Kinder Scout is special. Amazing views from every edge, to bleak moorland on the plateau. So many routes up the mountain, all worth doing. A must visit if in the Peak District

Spending the bank holiday in Edale, Kinder had to be climbed. Starting from The Nags Head pub up Grindesbrook over the top and back down Jacobs Ladder to Upper Booth then back to Edale to The Nags Head for a well earned pint! Hard work and not a stroll in the park but well worth the views when you get... More

We walked from Edale and went up Jacobs ladder around the top of Kinder Scout via the Waterfall (Not much water when we visited) and then back down into Edale. Was a lovely walk with great varied scenery. Got a little off track in the bog area as the path following the stream seems to tail off and disappear, but... More

Walked up to Kinder Reservoir from Hayfeld on a gorgeous April day, not too hot but warm enough for shirtsleeves and to catch the sun. There looked to be two ways to get there from the village, firstly you come quickly across a bridleway on the left of Kinder Road which takes you there over a distance of 1.5 miles.... More

Walked from Edale to Kinder downpour on Wednesday. The weather was excellent and views amazing! We started the walk early , be careful though when starting early the toilets in the car park are locked. Celebrated completing the walk by a wonderful pint in the The Old Knags Head and a portion of chips- Life doesn't get better.
