This is a beautiful part of North of England from the rugged coastline to wild and wonderful countryside to explore. It has a lot of castles, Hadrian's wall, Kielder Water as well welcoming tea rooms and pubs. Well worth a visit.

The Northumberland National Park covers approximately 400 square miles with almost 20% of that owned by the MOD. There is the Cheviot Hills in the north with some excellent walking and the very popular Hadrian's Wall in the south with the Whin Sill visitor centre....More

Fabulous moorland countryside. Wild and wonderful with a distant past. Corbridge Roman Fort is also a must see; after you've visited the main sites along Hadrian's Wall.

We enjoyed a fabulous walk along Hadrian's Wall from Housesteads to Once Brewed. This is a stunning part of the world with magnificent views. Sycamore Gap was rather busy, but the rest of the route was quiet enough to enjoy the environment.

Well-worth a visit, though I did not envy people travelling through on bikes. Remote and brooding in bad weather, the area is outstandingly beautiful.

I'm reluctant to heap praise on the Northumberland National Park as one of its attractions is that it is quieter than the nearby Lake District and Dales. There seems to be so much more space here, the paths aren't so heavily eroded, or the roads...More

We came here this afternoon for a short hike. It was perfect. The hills themselves are quite steep so really get the heart rate up if you take them at a good pace. The forests around are so quiet and lovely and the views from...More
