The beautiful Grade II* Listed Delapre Abbey, just one mile from Northampton town centre, is entering an exciting new phase in its history. Following the success of a Heritage Lottery Fund application in 2013, a £6.3 million project is underway to repair and restore this previously listed "Building At Risk". The Delapre Abbey Preservation Trust is working with Northampton Borough Council to involve the community and volunteers in the restoration project and will then manage and operate the Abbey for the benefit of the public. The Abbey will be opening its doors to visitors for the first time in its 900 year history in spring 2017, with The Trust managing the building as a fantastic historic venue for local, national and even international visitors.

The decor is lovely ... exposed brickwork but with a modern twist. The food all looks fresh and appealing. Had a sandwich and also the rhubarb cake - very nice so will certainly be returning. They do afternoon tea in a separate area which requires...More

Visited yesterday as there was an attraction staged over the weekend but have occasionally walked around the grounds here. This place has the potential to be great instead of mediocre. The new cafe is aesthetically pleasing but coffee at £2.95 and not even a good...More

Visited for the first time after its had major renovations. As far as I could tell the interior wasn't open to visitors apart from a brand new coffee and food area. It was very busy and bright and could have done with ceiling fans as...More

Had a lovely walk round the grounds and lake and then visited the walled garden before taking refreshments in the cafe. Well worth a visit although the cafe prices were a bit on the expensive side.

Lovely surroundings now that the fences are down but a shame about the café. Very hot inside, no shade outside, coffee not very warm, expensive bottle of water and £6 for a beef roll! Very mediocre food and drink for up market prices. A lovely...More

The Conservatory Cafe here is really rather nice. It is expensive to an extent, but they do a deal where you can get a hot drink and a cake for £4.95 - this makes the price for an afternoon coffee and cake very competitive, in...More
