We called in at Delapre Abbey for a break in our journey on the M1. The grounds were great for the dog to have a run and we enjoyed tea and cake on the terrace afterwards. The house was fascinating. I particularly enjoyed the battlefield...More

Stopped here for coffee with some friends. Ended up staying the afternoon.. kids were happy playing in the trees and we were happy with repeated coffee and cake. Prices are as expected, yet still cheaper than a National Trust place.

The abbey is surrounded by fantastic gardens and woods that are ideal for a winter walk. The abbey offers free parking but it can get very busy. The shop is also worth a visit as it has some lovely local items.

We saw a news report on the BBC about Delapre and it looked very warm welcoming and quaint.we decided to visit to get into the Christmas spirit. However we were very disappointed with the staff and information . Felt rushed. Grounds and gardens great though.

We were there for a wedding, which probably isn't the most complete way to see the building, but the grounds were lovely and there was ample parking. The buildings themselves have interesting history and are well-preserved.
