Walked the walls on Tuesday morning, the sun was out and the views were good. Made a change walking into the city via the streets.

It is well worth walking the complete way round the city walls. They are narrow in parts, with stone steps and stairs with no safety rail and a small child would need very close supervision. They are obviously, not at all suitable for wheel chair...More

Being in the city for a few days up from Norwich, I found York very familiar. Many of the same type of city characteristic are shared between the cities. The York City Walls are an amazing way to experience the city. Following the footsteps of...More

I love walking on the city walls, especially on a sunny day. You get a different perspective of the views of the buildings of York as you are much higher than you would be nomally. It's great for families as it's free, and all kids...More

In my view this walk is best done early on a bright crisp morning. As you circle the city you see it coming to life. Shops and bakeries opening. Deliveries arriving, commuters setting out, public transport picking up passengers.....and all of this type of activity...More

We had a lovely walk round the walls, interesting sites and a nice way to walk round the city. Just be carful with young children as some sections don't have a guard rail, just a drop of 6-10 foot

then this is a good one. I only walked a little of it but did find it to be quite nice. It wasn't a difficult walk and there were some lovely views.

Walked around the wall, good to do and good view as walking round. No barrier on some parts of wall so not for the faint hearted..

They can be accessed most times of the day, during daylight hours. However, the gates through which the walls pass are locked and so preventing access. The walls are not continuous and in parts are open on one side so not... More

We never got the feeling like we could fall. There are high walls or fences and solid footing. If it's just being high, I think 20-30 feet at the most is it.

I am a tourist, and so cannot answer your question but York is a highly organised destination and so would be suprised if a German speaking tour was not available
