This is a lovely little walk should you not have a specific destination and want to see the city from a different perspective. It's a lovely leisurely walk with some stunning views of the city. Many cafes/ bars boarder the wall so you can always stop of for a quick drink.

I was fortunate (for February) to have a beautiful day for my walk around the City Walls. In most places the walkway is sufficiently elevated to give great views of the city's architecture. I got a new perspective of the places I had visited at ground level. The walk way is generally safe and level with steps where some some... More

Walked along the city walls with my partner, great views of York Minster! Not great for people with walking difficulties as there is quite a few steps.

Having visited York many times before, the City walls have been a glaring omission from previous trips! We decided to complete the whole walk of the Walls in one day, and were not disappointed. It was a great way to spent a chilly but sunny February Sunday afternoon. It was good to see the city from a different angle. The... More

This is one of the best free attractions in York. You can spend many hours walking the city walls and absorbing the grandeur of York at the same time

We took a walk right round the wall, or what remains of it as there are some gaps. In total it is around 2 miles. There are some well preserved buildings which form part of the wall and are entrances to the city. There are some excellent views as you go round. Well worth visiting.

How can something that's stood the test of time ( and various invaders ) not be anything other than awesome. Just walk the length of the walls and you can't fail to be amazed by the structure.
