I’m too scared to walk on the walls now because I suffer from a balance issue that makes it quite scary but hear walls are fantastic and if you can do some of them take the opportunity.

Took my South African fiancée and she loved the walk and the views from the wall. A good way to see parts of the city from a different angle

Walls give a fascinating insight into the history of York and are well worth walking around. Also provide some great views of the City. Most of the wall is complete and you can walk along the ramparts. Where there is a gap the walking route...More

Simply amazing views of York. However, in places somewhat dangerous with a sheer drop, felt uneasy walking along this part of the city walls.

City walls are such an impressive site and filled with history. Wonderful way to view the city from a different perspective. Views are stunning, plenty of seats en route and lots of photo opportunities.

Lovely walk with some nice views. Lost a star because it is interrupted by the Richard of York experience so you have to come down off the wall to cross the street and rejoin it. Would have been nice for the walk to be continuous....More

Best way to see York if you are able bodied. Historic perspective of the city, the walls themselves and an excellent view into the city and to the areas outside the walls. Must be able to climb steps Not great if you don’t like drops!...More

Absolutely beautiful walk around the city. So much to see and admire. Well maintained and much nicer than walking alongside traffic!

Long spread walls surrounding the central area of York. Stunning views of the city, architecture and beautiful parks give you the impression of freedom.

I wouldn’t recommend it as some parts of the wall end in steps and aren’t very wide. Other parts have no railing and a steep drop to the exposed side too.

They can be accessed most times of the day, during daylight hours. However, the gates through which the walls pass are locked and so preventing access. The walls are not continuous and in parts are open on one side so not... More

We never got the feeling like we could fall. There are high walls or fences and solid footing. If it's just being high, I think 20-30 feet at the most is it.
