My wife and I visited York and the walls were a sight to behold, they are hundreds of years old and have a lot of history. Well worth a visit.

Coming from Chester the wall is a little disappointing as it is not all that old and not continuos. It was worth the effort to see the city from different angles. Not all that well signposted.

We never got the feeling like we could fall. There are high walls or fences and solid footing. If it's just being high, I think 20-30 feet at the most is it.

I am a tourist, and so cannot answer your question but York is a highly organised destination and so would be suprised if a German speaking tour was not available
