A beautiful well kept Victorian park with lots to do and see. Children’s areas, flower beds, arboretums, statues, and ponds.
Lots of local wildlife.
Excellent for a picnic.
Cafe and toilets, all just a stone throw from York city centre and the racecourse.
Well worth a visit.

1st time visitors to York and I was quite shocked at the state of this park. You could just about make out its former splendour through the neglect it is now suffering(on purpose or otherwise). I’m all for nature but the re-wilding going on here has gotten out of hand. If the volunteer group can’t manage something which could easily be transformed back into something beautiful, then they should leave it to the professionals who can. If the founding fathers of this park could see it now, they would be turning in their graves!

Dump! Been going downhill for years. Goose crap everywhere, greens you can't sit on, flower beds unkept and the toilets are the vilest I've ever seen! A disgrace and an embarrassment! York in general is getting dirtier and dirtier, the council are useless. The place has been in decline since the 90s.... York is dead!

Been coming nearly every year, very disapointed with the up keep of the Park, the lake is horrible with tree branches and mud .the paths are dirty and every where over groin.

Nous venons presque chaque année mais la pas de tout entretenu, très déçu.

We live nearby the park and unfortunately over the past few years it has seriously deteriorated in every aspect thanks to York City Council park maintenance department who have totally neglected this historical park but ironically they maintain the museum park in city center to the highest level of tidiness and beauty. Shame on our useless council who are also neglecting the public roads which are full of potholes which make driving potentially hazardous while trying to avoid them.

Lovely park with lots of history and nice seats next to pond. There’s a cafe with an elevated view across the park. Tennis courts , playground and a few different spaces. Nice walk along the riverside about 20 mins stroll from the very centre of York and especially nice if combined with a loop down as far as the millennium pedestrian bridge ( a short 10 mins ? walk further downstream on the river Ouse). You can come back on the other side of the river where the bank side walk is really lovely.

A great few hours spent here, kids loved the skate park best . It was busy but all there were respectful to each other. Park and walks were great.only down side the goose poo all over. You can't really have a relaxing picnic and toilets are not the best. The ice cream van at the end in the car park was extortionate.

We stayed at a lovely campsite in the city of York a short walking distance to the centre of historic York.
The campsite was a great place to park our motorhome to allow us easy access. The campsite was well managed, clean and tidy with lovely facilities.
We booked for 5 nights, but we only stayed 4 which was enough. We had done all we wanted to in the city

Could be a beautiful place. A lovely walk into the city. However it is difficult to walk because of all the poo. It's more of an obstacle course.

This is basically a nice park but is not being maintained by York City Council as it should be, much like their neglect of the River Foss. As others have stated the paths and grass are covered in goose droppings. The lake was suffering from the drought but even so the council could easily keep it topped up as its close to the River Ouse. Needless to say the water was dirty with algae. Rubbish at the north end could easily have been removed given the low water level. The cafe is very nice and the incorporation of a library is a great feature however the cakes and scones etc are very expensive in our opinion. £2.95 for a cheese scone? Not likely! I wonder how many are thrown away as unsold. The coffee I thought was too strong compared to Nerro et al.
