Like a little piece of history repeating itself within the busy hidden alleys of York. Amazing little boutique shops all equally different and offer some amazing little buys. A total must when visiting York. The narrow streets scream history and local culture. Close by the chocolate factor and York minster too.

First trip to The Shambles and of course the oldest street in the UK - I'm not sure how they come to know this but it's worth a visit. Quaint and totally quirky, lovely shops and you can't come to York without seeing this historic area. Plenty to see, don't miss this little gem 💎!

I loved it!! For sure worth the time to walk into all the little shops! It does get very busy so I recommend going in the morning when it opens! And if you want the perfect picture, later in the evening when they are closed.

Been here on a few occasions over the years and on each occasion we are blown away by the beauty of the buildings. Real Dickensian and if you haven't been before it is a must

We were told to go to the shambles, but be aware, this is no good for any type of wheelchair. The old road is just not suitable for wheelchairs

Being shown around York by friends, and this was our first stop. What a place! Everything about it was informal & relaxed. Even got to sample a shot of tea!

Places like The Shambles are the reasons why I have fallen in love with York, I am from a very small town in Lincolnshire and moved here to study. The shambles is such a unique and interested part of York that you must go and visit. All of the little shops are adorable, there's a traditional sweet shop that has... More

It's a cute enough street to wander down and peer in the windows but I more out of a second visit when I walked down it with Alan from White Rose Walking Tours. Also the site of the Shrine of St Mary Clitheroe. It doesn't take long to visit it so worth doing as part of a city wander.
