We visited her with my husband and 2 children aged 14 and 10 years. Wasn't sure what to expect so went with an open mind. Kids enjoyed it and found it funny the frightening parts. We used our york passes to get in which made...More

If you are squeamish then don't worry about visiting this venue. I dislike explicit goriness and did wonder if I should be taking the tour. As I discovered, gore is minimal. Instead you will walk from scenario to scenario of varying levels of creepiness being...More

This is one of York's best attractions. The staff are great fun and really get into character. We laughed the whole time. Audience participation is a must. We've visited Edinburgh dungeons but York tops that.

This was the best experience of our entire holiday!!! Thought Jorvik was good but this was so much better - a bit like Horrible Histories on steroids! All the actors were great, although the plague nurse was the best (and the creepiest!) Worth every penny!

After visiting Edinburgh and Blackpool Tower Dungeons, which I found to be similar in style and theme, the York Dungeon blows them all away. They dare to be different and are much better for it. Would highly recommend.

This is not suitable for children under about the age of ten or children with a nervous disposition as it is very dark inside which adds to the atmosphere and it also has times when the lights go out completely for short periods.

If you don't do anything else in York, do this. Admission for over 10 Yrs, which I think is correct. Despite English being my children's second language, the acting made it easier to stay focussed.
