The Treasurers House near the Minster is a peek back into the history of York, not just the Minster and is well worth a visit. There was no queue when we visited, easy access.

A very interesting National Trust property, made all the more enjoyable at the time of our visit by the Vivien Leigh exhibition being staged there.

We visited the Treasurer's House on a Saturday morning. We had not pre-booked but only had to wait about 5 minutes to get in. A very interesting house and the cafe served an enjoyable lunch. It is well worth a visit. We are National Trust members and so the visit was free.

An interesting building by the side of York Minster ( so easy to get to). Has a collection of 17th and 18th Century furniture, and tales of a ghostly Roman Legion. Cafe is very good.

What a delightful building in the shodows of the Chapter House of York Minster. I visited several years previously and since then NT have opened more rooms and extended the restaurant area making three rooms to now dine in. The staff were very attentive, warm and helpful. They had a Vivian Liegh exhibitions on at the time of my visit,... More

We visited this property as we are National Trust members and were looking for something to do on a wet day in York. The house was very interesting and was hosting an exhibition of memorabilia on loan from the Victoria and Albert museum about Vivien Leigh who had stayed there when the house was privately owned.

Instead of having decent information panels in each room which guests can read at their leisure whilst absorbing their surroundings, the National Trust have gone for the tour guide format, where an over eager guide awaits to fill you in as you walk into each and every room. Why this overbearing format? – leave me in piece to explore.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Treasurer's House on 3rd December and would recommend looking around the house when visiting York. We are members of the National Trust so were able to visit covered by our membership and didn't have to pay but there is normally a charge. The café is excellent and reasonably priced -... More
