York Terror Trail, a history tour of the horrors of York. There is a monster, 1900 years old, thousands have died in its name. Like all the best masters of disguise it’s gone by many names: Eboracum, Eoforvic, Jorvic… today we just call it York. It has many weapons: battles, murders, terrible accidents and deliberate neglect. This city has two sides, the one it wants you to see and the one it doesn’t. It hides it down back streets and in the corner of your eye. We shouldn’t want to see it but we do. The terror trail can show it to you…The tour starts 6.45pm every night from York’s most haunted pub the Golden Fleece Inn.Adults: £5Children: £2

We wanted an earlier ghost walk, and chose this walk based purely on its start time and location. Luckily, our two daughters (ages 8 and 5) adored our guide Gemma and raved about this walk for the rest of the trip. Our littlest was scared to go on a ghost walk but opted in as soon as she saw Gemma... More

Really enjoyed the tour, loads of fun was had with our captivating guide. His knowledge was vast, storytelling powers impressive and oratory skills held the interest of all in the group.

We took part in this tour last night with Gemma as our guide. It was fun and informative. Gemma is very animated and a great story teller and brilliant at getting everyone involved. I'd highly recommend this tour if you want to know more about Yorks real and very dark history, if you're after ghosts and ghouls you may want... More

I went to York recently with my bf for our anniversary and we wanted to finish off our trip with a ghost tour. We chose the tour which sets off from the famous Golden Fleece. We had a pleasure of being guided by the eccentric Gemma; she was so mesmerising and knowledgable in the way she performed throughout the night,... More

Just had the tour with Damian and it was really good fun and interesting. Not a ghost walk as such but a really entertaining terror trail good stories about the history of York that you would miss if you went around all day on your own. Definitely highly recommend this and it's only £5. Really worth it

Me and my boyfriend did the tour with Damian (looking at the photos on web page).. Anyway, tour was absolutely brilliant, guide very engaging and entertaining. For the length of tour and the knowledge packed into roughly an hour and a half walk £5 was no hardship. Really brought the history of York to life, thoroughly recommend.

York is an amazing, old city and there is no better way to spend 1h 45min in it than to be guided through some of the more gruesome historical events which took place here by Damian - part actor, part philosopher, and generally a sensitive soul - and his merry band of assistants (the rest of the tour group, and... I found the Terror Trail by searching for Ghost Tours on Tripadvisor. Even though there wasn't one ghost story, this was a very engaging history tour. I highly recommend it. The tour guide gets everyone to participate and is a very engaging storyteller.
