York Terror Trail, a history tour of the horrors of York. There is a monster, 1900 years old, thousands have died in its name. Like all the best masters of disguise it’s gone by many names: Eboracum, Eoforvic, Jorvic… today we just call it York. It has many weapons: battles, murders, terrible accidents and deliberate neglect. This city has two sides, the one it wants you to see and the one it doesn’t. It hides it down back streets and in the corner of your eye. We shouldn’t want to see it but we do. The terror trail can show it to you…The tour starts 6.45pm every night from York’s most haunted pub the Golden Fleece Inn.Adults: £5Children: £2

2 hours absolutely flew by. Damien was great, an absolute mine of historic and literary knowledge, you can tell it's his passion which made it all the more captivating. It was cold, dark and set the scene perfectly for some pretty grim stories the city...More

There are lots of city tours in York. Some are free and some are paid for. After much deliberation we decided not to do one of the free day tours - partly because one recommended one lasts 3 hours and the guide might have heavily...More

Me and my partner have just visited York and had a drink in the Golden Fleece. We then decided to go on the terror trail that leaves from there at 6:45. Really great fun. One of the big highlights of the trip. My partner loved...More

This was more of a theatre group performance than a terror trail. I don't think this is the usual tour and I would strongly urge the group to go back to the normal performance. This was a convoluted sci-fi storyline which seemed to confuse the...More

Hi Eric, We're really sorry to hear that the show wasn't what you were expecting. We were running our Halloween special event which features a larger cast and added storyline, differing from the regular York Terror Trail. This only runs during the last 14 days...More

We booked the tour not knowing what to expect but we were very impressed with the experience! They made us jump and laugh keeping all the historical gruesome details and making the audience be part of it. We can’t recommend it enough!

I'm beginning to think we somehow ended up on the wrong tour. Having read the Tripadvisor reviews we were really looking forward to enjoying a tour of York embellished with tales of the past. Arrived 6:45 outside the Golden Fleece as is advertised, but had...More
