199 steps or steep slope to access the Abbey. On a day like today not for the faint hearted. We witnessed high winds, sea spray and hailstones. The winds helped get up the steps but made it dangerous on the way down. Beautiful views even...More

Great place to visit and moderately cheap. Staff are very helpful and the shop is amazing. Get some really great pictures if wait for the sun in the perfect place.

Lots to do - lovely town - great scenery and excellent beach - many bars with live music - plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. A bit of a climb to the Abbey, but worth the effort for the brilliant views.

The abbey is stunning and worth driving up to, with a striking setting looking over Whitby. The abbey was closed in November but it was still possible to wander around the outside.

This Abbey is a gorgeous ruin, overlooking the water. There is a lot of history that you learn while walking around, and it was the inspiration for Bram Stroker when he wrote Dracula!

We visited the abbey early on a sunny Sunday morning and had the place pretty much to ourselves. The detail is very well preserved and it's amazing to think it was designed and built so many years ago. Reasonably priced and a good visitors centre...More

Standing high on the hillside just to the south of the town this wonderful Abbey is steeped in history. Talking of steep, the steps up from the town itself are quite something and should be tackled slowly if your fitness is not what it used...More

Yes not only by the ruins but inside the visitor centre as well. Whitby is a wonderful place to take dogs, not only the pubs but also many of the coffee shops and restaurants allow them in.
