    Lively harbour
Quite picturesque but very busy, even on a week day. There are plenty of fishing boats as well as tourist boats that come and go all day long. The bridge opens up during the day to let the taller boats through.

    Harbour days and nights
Can't resist a stroll around the harbour. Husband is a fisherman and loves to look in the waters in case he can see any fish (or crabs!). And as it is a working harbour, lots of boats in and out among the pleasure boats. Kids love the crabbing and husband might give it a try one day too!

    Lovely place to visit
Went for two days in August 2023 and each day felt different due to the weather. Wednesday it rained for most of the day and it felt like a Ghost Town with not many places open and some that close on Wednesdays anyway. The next day the weather was better and the town was packed. The town itself is full of unique shops, many food places (expect queues in many of the popular ones) and plenty of things to do. Nice place to visit but does depend on the weather

So much to see and do in this beautiful town
Stayed in the town for a few days staying at the angel hotel (definitely recommend) and loved the walks along the harbour. There’s 2 sides to the harbour both with a pier and different aspects of the town. One with the abbey and 199 steps and the other with the quaint shops and entertainment. There’s so much to do you won’t be disappointed. Crabbing is a local fun activity so if you see people with buckets casting out on the harbour edges that’s what they’re doing

    Whitby delight
A beautiful part of the UK. Peace and tranquility reign in a fishing harbour fresh out of a bygone era. A simply stunning place to just watch the world go by and appreciate life in all it's glory. The sea air cleanses your spirit, washes away the worries and makes you feel glad to be alive. You won't even think about vampires, you won't notice the myth even exists.

An active harbour with loads to see and do
Great to see a once busy harbour still with lots of activity around it, both in the water and on the surrounding harbourside. The character of the harbour must be similar to what it had been at the end of the century, probably only slightly quieter that it had been in the early 1900s although fishing will have reduced significantly. Still a real buzz about Whitby which has been lost by so many otherwise popular ports.

    Busy
Visited Whitby as never been before, was suprised how busy it was. We booked a boat trip, glad we went early as it gets booked up very quickly. Great boat trip and saw some dolphins, the guy was very friendly and talked to everyone individually. Plenty of places to eat and drink

No free public toilets. 50p to take a piss takes the piss. They are pretty horrible even if you do pay. Piss on the street is my advice

The town itself is stunning and just full of mariner history. But the locals there are less desirable, rude and very unfriendly to outsiders. From the Hotel we stayed at to the Fish and Chips restaurant we ate at.
From one American to another……..skip Whitby……or drive through it and see the views…….but don’t spend your money here

A great place to simply meander along the roads around the docks, and even out to the harbour entrances breakwaters, exploring historic buildings on the way and small boats making the rocky way out of the harbour.

Stay away in your motorhome.
No parking.
Signs everywhere to say do not park.
They hate you in Whitby.
October to March they could let us park because it’s empty.
We could put back into the economy.
Don’t go if you are disabled, no parking anywhere, unless you can walk down the hills.
They have a very clear message in Whitby.
KEEP OUT IN YOUR MOTORHOMES, KEEP OUT THE DISABLED.
Enjoy your quiet town in the winter.
Feel sorry for the businesses that could gain so much from us in the winter months.
The car parks are empty, but it states overnight parking £9, in a corner is a small yellow sign saying No motorhomes.
All over Whitby No motorhome signs adorn the whole area.
OK Whitby we get it.
You could not make it clearer.
Drove through and left, we went to another area that gladly took out money.
