A place of sanctuary and peace. Having spent time in Julian's cell we went to the visitor centre next dour - the volunteers were so welcoming and friendly - made us coffee ( no cost but we gave a donation because they were so lovely!)...More

With many historical factors and the quiet, out-of-the-way chapel, it was definitely a recommended visit whether on a fact finding tour or a journey of spiritual reflection

Such a beautiful church, plus access to the cell of Mother Julian, is well worth a visit if spending a day in Norwich. Information and historical facts are available in the church. However the centre next door has a library with plenty of seating. Volunteers...More

This church was originally built around 1070 and is older than the Cathedral. It was almost completely destroyed in 1942 when it took a direct hit from a German bomb and what you see today contains some items rescued from the old church but the...More

Mother Julian was inspirational, in the 1380's she was inspired from her cell in the church to preach the love for God, rather than the then-fashionable 'Fear God'. Sit in her cell and meditate. Lovely ladies in Julian Centre nearby for a tea and words....More

An unexpected surprise with a lovely tranquil small garden at the rear of the shrine. A warm and knowledgeable welcome from the volunteers who are available in the centre to answer questions and provide refreshments.

The shrine is so beautifully rebuilt after devastating bombing during WWII, and despite the sadness that is felt over the loss of the original church, the attention to detail put into rebuilding it creates something all the more beautiful. Although it is a newer building,...More
