We took a lone walk on Christmas Day into the city. The perfect time for exploring as were almost on our own and took some amazing pictures. As we walked down King Street on our way back to the hotel we exchanged seasons greetings with a gentleman coming toward us. In the course of conversation he asked if we had... More

Enjoy this peaceful shrine in peace and quiet in the city centre. A really true haven to escape. It's also very historic and an oasis.

If you know anything about Julian of Norwich, the shrine is very much worth a visit. I read her autobiography at uni and it was really interesting to see where she lived for the greater part of her life. It doesn't take very long to visit - 15-20 minutes is ideal - but is definitely worth it. The book shop... More

Julian of Norwich was the 14th/15th Century mystic who was the first woman to write a book in English ('Revelations of Divine Love'). The shrine provides a quiet space to reflect on her and her revelations in a peaceful space on the site where she lived as an anchorite in a similar peaceful space for many years of her eventful... Another must go location in Norwich. The small chapel offers peace and fulfilment and what is particularly poignant is the small chapel off to one side where Julian had her visits and recorded her meditations.

A lovely place although a little difficult to find although I wouldn't advise visiting on a Sunday as the Julian centre is closed so I wasn't able to peruse or purchase any publications. I was a tad disappointed at this but I will be back again.

This little church is beautiful. It is small and very compact, well cared for with a centre of information next door. She was a lady we admired for her objections to traditional man made church dogma. It's so good she is remembered with such a lovely place to visit. She needs greater celebration in history because she put together the... More

A quiet contemplative place, reflecting its inspiration. It is what one hopes for when visiting a place of of spiritual resonance. This is where you can explore one of the more joyful sources of the tradition of mysticism in the West. We felt welcome by the person at the Center and found it to be just the right tone.

This is a truly spiritual and relaxing place to visit. It is steeped in history and has existed in Norwich for a long time as a special place for pilgrims. Julian's cell is so peaceful especially for troubled souls.

Just a short walk, up St Julian's Lane from Dragon's Hall, is where you'll find the Church of St Julian, also known as St Julian's Shrine. The church looks as if it has stood since the Medieval times. A church has stood on the site since before the conquest (1066), however after being badly damaged during the blitz of 1942... More
