Description:

The Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell proudly tells the story of the city...

The Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell proudly tells the story of the city and its people. The museum is now fully accessible and refurbished after a £1.5m redevelopment project. Come pay us a visit! The ancient building is packed full of collections and displays, with lots to enjoy by all the family. Highlights include the last surviving Jacquard loom in the city, fully restored to full working order, a recreated chemist shop, countless fantastic shoes, as well as engineering marvels, such as the world's first wire netting machine. Catch a film in our mini cinema, relax in the 1950s living room or listen to local people sharing their memories of the city. Find us in the heart of the charming Norwich Lanes area. We would love to welcome you to this unique museum.

A great little museum telling the story of the later development of Norwich. Good displays and interpretation. Certainly worth a visit.

We had previously visited on our own and noticed children running around, so when we had great nephews visit (4 and 2), we knew where to take them. There were other children with parents, lots to see. I think it is somewhere you could take visiting children every time as they get older there will be something different they will... More

We visited the Bridewell museum as the children have Norfolk Children's University passports which meant free entry for them & gained 2 hours credits. Adult entry was reasonable. If you love history & want to know all things Nar-wich it's your place! Lots to learn about & great displays. The boys loved the old fire truck, the girls loved the... More

This is a must visit museum in Norwich offering insights and highlights from Norwich's history from the early days through to the the present with many interactive and informative displays and exhibitions. On the second level of the museum you can see a complete chemist shop and workshop collected by a local man and donated to the museum and it... More

Visited the musuem for the first time in years. Really enjoyed the visit and would definitely recommend to others. It also helped that one of the volunteers filled us in on more of the musuem 's history.

Although not a huge museum there are a great many things there for you to see and lots of interactive drawers for children of all ages to open and learn/see more. You would need to spend about an hour to see this and it is a great location for going to on rainy days. I was amazed to see lots... More

Really lovely museum about Norwich,it's people and history. Having not lived in Norwich for 20 years was amazing to see old photos and memorabilia that bought back alot of memories. Knowledgeable and friendly staff too. Great place to spent an hour at.

We enjoyed our visit to the Norwich museum which has some very interesting facts about the city that we did not know. The museum is quite hands on and there are some imaginative displays. We liked the 1950s living room with the display on the old tv and the 1930s chemist shop. The only issue is that the museum comes... More

I really love this museum which tells us the history of Norwich by an interesting way. It was really attractive for a foreigner to see many old things there, like the pharmacy of the past, shoes in the past, trade sorties and so on.
