The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Greenwich
Greenwich Mean Time starts here, so to speak, as the very concept of global time was established at Royal Observatory, just one of several buildings of architectural interest in Greenwich. Indeed, the whole of Greenwich's historic town center, its Royal Park and a number of related buildings (and one world famous ship, the Cutty Sark) make up the UNESCO World Heritage site known as Maritime Greenwich. Today a laser beam is shot out across the night sky from the Observatory to mark the location of the Prime Meridian. Other bold (some say brash) 21st century additions to the area include landmarks such as The O2 entertainment complex (previously known as the Millennium Dome) and the Air Line cable cars, which offer scenic transport across the Thames between North Greenwich and the Royal Docks.

    Hidden Spaces Tour
We did the Hidden Spaces tour today with Suzy. It was *superb* - as a local resident and architect with a real interest in Greenwich history I was blown away by the church's connections to some of the most notable people in British history - I had no idea!! Cannot recommend this tour enough - five stars!

Church worth taking a pew in
Not much different to anyother church on the outside, but beautiful inside. Well kept and cared for. with magnificient ceilings and wooden carvings on the sides. Lots of info on the isles of people connected to the church from Tudor times to today.

    Fantastic tour of the crypt
We did the hidden spaces tour with Suzy which was fantastic. Really interesting tour and Suzy was really knowledgable about the history of the church, the crypt, and Greenwich in general. The crypt is also really well lit and nicely kept. Highly recommend!

    Fascinating tour of historic church
We did the hidden spaces tour which took us round the crypt and the up to the balconies. It was a fascinating talk, very interesting and informative. It's a lovely church with lots of history. Thoroughly recommend the tour. Also look out for the musical performances there - the acoustics are great and it's a very pleasing place to sit in and listen.

Really interesting, great stories from the crypt
Went on the hidden spaces tour and really enjoyed it. Was really interesting to go down into the crypt, lots of amazing stories about people who'd made incredible impact. Suzy our tour guide was great, very knowledgeable and had a good clear voice making it easy to listen to. The church itself has some interesting features, with great acoustics. Whilst we were there we managed to catch a snippet of a piano performance which was a bonus.

A great way to spend an hour in Greenwich
Brilliant tour! Our guide, Suzie, definitely knew her stuff....and more. So much information presented in a fun, informal way. So many links to so many well known historical figures

Hidden Spaces historical tour of church crypt and balcony
The Hidden Spaces tour is fantastic! It lasts just over an hour and we were all amazed at the history hidden in the crypt below the church. Our tour guide Suzy is fun and engaging and highly knowledgeable on her subject. A beautiful way to spend a Saturday morning. A group of musicians started a delightful classical concert which we attended as well. We will visit to see more musical concerts in future. Thanks to the lovely team for welcoming us all and allowing us to explore, ask questions and take pictures and films from inside. It should be taught to all schools in the area as the connections to social history, the river and local families is fascinating. It’s surprising how much we learnt in an hour!

The Hidden Spaces Tour of The Crypt was excellent, well organised and very interesting, I especially enjoyed the General Wolfe connection. The church is a gem, hiding in plain sight among the bigger attractions of wonderful Greenwich.

Pleasant church in the centre of Greenwich worth a look if you're passing - I had munched my lunch on a picnic table behind the church so had a look in - but not worth going out of your way for.
