Neighbourhood: Southbank
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.

    Wheelchair user
1 wheelchair user and 2 carers. We had a fab time at this experience, the staff were great at advising us where to stand and actually had space for wheelchairs in all the rooms. The characters were so good with telling us the story and getting us all involved. Would definitely recommend.
Woooowwwweeeee! What a Shrektacular review!!!! Shrek will be so thrilled to hear that you all had such an amazing time! Well... as thrilled as an Ogre could possibly be! He'll pass on that Shrektacular feedback to all the staff. We can't wait to welcome you all back to Far Far Away soon!!! Oh! Donkey says hey! 💚💚💚

    A bit dull and repetitive
Went with a 7 year old girl and 13 year old boy. Girl had a great time but the rest of us in the party thought it very boring. Too much waiting around at the start for a photo that you are “prompted” to buy. This caused a huge bottle neck in a very small space. Felt very outdated. There are better attractions (including the London dungeon next door) to spend your money on. Was the only think I wish I hadn’t wasted my money on during our whole weekend in London.
3 stars! Gingy will take those and trade them for some new gum drop buttons! We'd love to know how to make that 5 stars! 💚💚💚 We would love to hear more about your visit... Please e-mail us at SALguestexperience@merlinentertainments.biz

    Where are the witches?
This experience used to be fun for all ages. However, I visited early in 2024, and this attraction is now in the children. I do not understand, why they have removed the witches. Please can somebody explain why? It is worth doing once if you haven’t been. Also there use to be more adult jokes in it. Ok not great.

This was a birthday treat for my 6 year old granddaughter and she loved it. We were very disappointed that you can’t take photos as we wanted memories of the day. I thought the various scenes were lovely and I enjoyed the humour. I am confused however as to why it is called the Shrek Experience as he only turns up at the end.

We had the grandchildren. 11, 9 and 3, for the weekend and selected on the Shrek Adventure to keep them entertained.
We arrived earlier than our tickets but were cheerfully checked through. The kids enjoyed the signs and images on the walls of the entrance hall as we waited to enter the Experience. Thankfully, just before we entered a tour there were toilets; an essential for young children .
After a magical ride in the elevator we arrived in the Tour Bus. The bus was great - DreamWorks at its best.
From there we were treated to a series of tableaus with live actors; we were taken through a story. The live actor really engaged the audience from young to older. Each scene was well presented and involved audience participation; both child and adult. The audio and visual aspects were superb.
At the end of the experience the 3-year old to the 73-year old and those in between had enjoyed the experience.

We have been here a few times over the last few years. My kids love it. It’s great and interactive, some adult jokes that make us laugh too.

We weren’t sure what to expect with this but felt it was very pricey for the tour. You were guided round (a lot of walking and standing) to different sections and told a story but you had to go at their pace. Much of the story went over our 4 year old (who loves Shrek!). 7 year old thought it was ok but again a lot of walking and you can’t take photos which would have been nice for kids with characters.

What an amazing adventure. Plenty of interaction for everyone. Fun for adults as well as children. Well worth the entrance fee.

Visited the experience as part of our merlin membership (and it was only one available) during school half term week.
This wasnt our first time, in fact probably fifth occasion now.
We had the first slot of the day which works if you want an easier or quieter start to the day.
There are various rooms which represent a scene or experience that we are taken through as described in other reviews.
A few things to note.
The bus ride at the start is no longer 3D and other than some light air cant even be 4D. Not sure why this has been changed but used to be the best part.
The actors for each scene do their best and if its the first time you probably will enjoy some of them- otherwise seen it done it got the tshirt. As a few have mentioned it would be good to give all children in the group a turn in participation as some seemed to be constantly chosen.
Following the last room, you have a chance to take a picture with shrek. Then through a corridor into various dreamworks movie sections. In our previous visit this contained actors portraying a viking for ‘How to train your dragon’ movie and people in Trolls costumes. This time it was nothing, no one around except a face painter. The bleak ending is somewhat rescued by a sizeable gift shop (though expect large prices too!).
All in all, not like the old days. It could be better but seems to experiencing budgetary constraints that could make it better.
As a comparison, as we walked out, the queue for sea-life next door was a mile long, whereas this place had no one (queuing)..

This was OK, glad we did it but maybe wouldn't again. We enjoyed it but after being in the dungeons beforehand maybe felt this was a little boring.
Kids enjoyed it.

Visited here yesterday with my young grandson. We had a great time. The staff were really friendly and great fun. The bus ride was amazing and there were plenty of opportunities to take some great photos before and after the adventure although photography is not permitted during the adventure which is a good thing as I think it would spoil it for other people. The groups were a good size so they weren't over crowded and when you get to the end it was easy to take photos without getting in anyone's way. The only disappointing thing was the lack of carrier bags at the photo booth. I bought the top package which costs £30 and included a book and photos and a fridge magnet and a keyring with the photos to go inside them on a separate card so I thought it fair to assume they would provide a bag to stop us from dropping it all but I was told they didn't have any but I could buy one in the gift shop. I was absolutely horrified when I discovered the only bag they had was a canvas tote bag that cost £4 which was a total rip off. I'm all for not using plastic bags or reusing but maybe offer them at a lower price as we really didn't have any choice but to buy one. I would definitely recommend taking a fold up bag with you to avoid this but all in all this was a thoroughly enjoyable experience for young families but would not recommend it for children under 5 as I think they would quickly get fidgety and I actually thought a lot of it was more suited to slightly older kids. I would definitely say 5 plus.

This was good fun mainly for younger children or shrek fans. Staff and actors were excellent everyone helpful played their part and really tryed hard with the crowd. Lots of standing and walking through small areas. I would of preferred to been able to continuously walk through. The shop is Amazing! we will definitely be back just for the shop!
Maybe the place needs updating now we love Toothless and Po add on bits at the end

Went with my son (13), my friend and her young daughter (5). My son and I have been many years ago and the best bit by far was the 4d bus journey at the start.
We had been planning this trip for a while and were super excited. Especially for the bus, we had told my friend all about it, and her daughter was very excited for it.
Finally got to where we should be getting on the bus and all that happened was they played the movie that would normally be played on the bus, on the screen behind where the steward talks and makes everyone have a little dance.
No bus in sight what so ever.
I’ve looked online and the 4d bus is promoted everywhere so I can’t see that it was taken away? And we were not pré-warned that it was out of order. It just didn’t happen.
Travelled from Newbury by train. Expensive day for a let down.
I have given some stars in my review as the actors were great.
