Spent time walking around Hyde park and stumbled across the Italian Gardens. Not the best time to see it in Feb but was impressed with the layout, fountains and story behind it. Visit if you have time 👍

These beautiful water gardens can be seen in the northern part of the Kensington Park. They are laid out near the Lancaster Gate. They were landscaped in 1860.
This was perhaps the last gift of the Prince Consort to his beloved wife Queen Victoria as he died in 1861. He got it designed by James Pennethorne. There are four ornamental basins made of Portland Stone. Elegant roses carved Carrara marble can also be seen. The water feature is the white marble Tazza Fountain. The whole are is embellished with graceful urns and stone statues a woman, a ram, a dolphin and a swan. To top it all there is the right amount of foliage. Some lovely swans can be seen floating around. These gardens were inspired by Osborne Garden and contain many of its features. Osborne Gardens were where the Queen and Prince Albert went for their holidays, away from the public gaze. You can simply sit by these lovely gardens and enjoy the beauty for hours.

The Italian Gardens are have amazing fountains, which even has fish in them and places to sit and admire the view. The Gardens are inside the Lancaster Gate entrance to Kensington Gardens.

Even on a dull day these gardens are beautiful. Located at the head of The Serpentine and great views down the body of water. Great place to dwell and enjoy the fountains.

A highlight of visiting Kensington Gardens. Beautiful water garden with fountains and sculptures located near Lancaster Gate. Very peaceful. Nice place to sit and unwind. You can also enjoy a 99 Flake ice cream cone which were being sold here this summer.

What a great place to sit! We decided to visit after tea for a stroll in the evening. I thought the Italian Gardens looked wonderful in the milky twilight and it was very serene to sit by the fountains! If I'm honest, the further you venture out from the Italian gardens, the less picturesque the views are, so just stay there!

Only problem was that they locked up the toilets to early and when they are open, you have to pay to use them, which is a disgrace in a free country!

Having said that, I would definitely recommend a daytime, or evening, visit!

Beautiful and tranquil part to Kensington Gardens. Hoped to see some fish, but no sign of these on our visit. Just air bubbles. Lovely lilies, good seating around the edge. A good place to come to be at peace.

The very first part of Hyde Park I discovered were the Italian Gardens, and, long before I even knew precisely where I was, I was enchanted. The grounds were clean, calm, and full of nature. The plethora of seating options and even a few food trucks made my experience even better. The Italian Gardens are non-negotiable when you’re here!
