Shad Thames is a super area and a mix of tourists and locals. The bridges spanning across the top of the street were used to roll spices into storage from the ships.

Shad Thames is a historic riverside street (also refers to the surrounding area) next to Tower Bridge and in the 19th century this was the largest warehouse complex in london. It is now restaurants and offices and interesting place to wander

Nice spot if you’re in the area. Nice restaurants and a few shops along the river. Highlight was stopping in for a drink at the Anchor Tap tavern - the original built in 1761.

Lovely cobbled street running parallel with the Thames just by Tower Bridge.
Nice area of historic London.
There’s a few eateries just off from the street and allies that lead to the river bank.

While visiting the Tower Bridge, we discovered this riverside street by accident! The street was partially cobbled like old London.

A special draw of this street are the walkways which criss-cross the street high overhead. Most of them now connect the Butlers Wharf building and the Cardamom Building, and were originally used as bridges to roll barrels and the like between warehouses. They are now used as balconies by the adjoining flats. Reminded us of the Bridge of Sighs in Venice.

We felt like we had jumped back over time into the past.

We decided to have a walk along as we were close by. It’s and interesting place with all the old bridges linking one side of the buildings to the other. There are a few cafes and restaurants there too. Worth a stroll along.

Shad Thames is very close to Tower Bridge and has great old buildings with short bridges across overhead. These used to be for rolling barrels of spices to different wear-houses.

Booked a table for Saturday evening . The place was very quiet when we arrived although all the staff appeared to be busy and we waited a while at the entrance until someone acknowledged us
However food was delicious. Choice of puddings excellent and service eventually good . Noticed other tables waited up to 15 minutes to order. So otherwise would have had a higher rating.

Shad Thames is a very vibrant cobblestone area that sits just over Tower Bridge. Very historic area and where the ships used to dock.

What an impressive area architecturally. All the better for seeing on a beautiful sept afternoon with the sun adding to an already picturesque setting. Fabulous history behind the now glamorous apartments. Would love to live there!
