When I first visited they were still painting the intricate scenes in the temple. Most is mythical, but one wall painting shows Maggie Thatcher and other characters. Take a quiet walk around the lake, silently visit the temple unless there is a service on, and...More

I love this place and have visited three times with school children. It is hard to book but worth the effort as the interior of the temple has the most fabulous paintings.

The biggest Buddhist chapel outside Thailand! Impressive! It's a pity that photos are not allowed inside, but it's a space for cult. Worth a visit.

It was smelly and damp inside and the yellow robes of Samphatal smelt of mold. Parking as usual in such places which is a standard service was well beyond reproach.

So there you are walking the leafing, well-heeled roads by Wimbledon Common and suddenly you stumble across the Buddhapadipa Temple. A beautiful small Buddhist temple that is clearly much loved and well looked after. Truly remarkable.

Fantastic place to escape to. Beautiful temple. Walk around the grounds, over bridges. Lots of messages of Buddhist wisdom to read as you go. Went when there was a festival, everyone welcoming. Street food was delicious and entertainment great.
