About
Originally built in 1934, our iconic flagship cinema is one of the finest surviving buildings of the postwar period, with its Sixties-inspired art deco ceiling, original marble bathrooms and sophisticated bar. The lavish main auditorium, which houses an 11m screen and two Royal Boxes, frequently plays host to red-carpet premieres and is a landmark location on the London cinema circuit.

The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.

The seats are certainly comfy and spacious here, but seriously, the stifling warmth was oppressive - like they'd turned up the heating to the max, while it was a mild early spring day outside. Marred my enjoyment of the movie so won't be back in a hurry unless that's sorted.

Barnaby and the team are always on hand to give a warm welcome. It’s cosy, clean and warm! As it’s a listed building it feels like stepping back in history. So glad I renewed my membership again ❤️

I have been to a few other branches. First time here. Located just behind Green Park. Looks like an old scruffy cinema outside but when you go inside, it is a lot different. Very elegant in tune with the area. Nice cinema. I was in a big cinema screen. Comfortable. Not sure all screens are like this. Reasonably clean. Staff are helpful, pleasant and friendly. Selection of alcoholic beverages, hot drinks, snacks and more. Nice lounge area to relax before or after your movie. Tickets are not cheap but you are paying for a more luxury cinema experience in an expensive area. Attracts a more mature crowd so you can also enjoy the movie in peace. Unlike Odeon or Vue, you don't have people making noise all the time throughout the movie! Easy to book a ticket online or at the venue itself if you prefer.

Compared to Everyman cinemas with their super plush seating and wide range of food options, this felt like a very quaint experience. We were in Screen 2 and it's pretty intimate - some double seats, some single, each with a personal light that dims at the start of the screening, it felt really throwback and fun. Sound was good, screen pretty modest size but perfectly fine, even from the back row where we were. A bottle of prosecco was £28, a little steep but y'know, pretty much almost restaurant prices. It has a full bar and limited range of snacks, but they let us bring in a Pret (we didn't ask but we weren't challenged, possibly because we were literally the only two customers in the place!)

We visited the Curzon Mayfair on one of the first days it opened after being closed during lockdown.

We've enjoyed going to the cinema before, but thought it worth reviewing on this occasion as it seemed set up well with regard to coronavirus restrictions and regulations - helpful staff who made what visitors should/could do clear, clean, distanced seating etc.

If you'd like to visit the cinema but are a bit worried about doing so at the moment, I would recommend visiting Curzon Mayfair.

This cinema is a complete let-down.
Overinflated tickets - I paid £34 for two tickets to a movie that would have cost just £21 for two VIP seats at Vue. Popcorn is also more expensive here.
The seats are crappy as well - hardly any lumbar support and if the person next to you moves, your seat will also creak and move. There is insufficient gradation between rows and your view will be at least partially blocked by the people in the row before you.
I don't see any logic to the rave reviews given by some others - a case of emperor's new clothes? A snobbish idolisation of anything vintage? Just because something is vintage, it doesn't equate to functionality or comfort, and that is true of this cinema. Unless this is the only venue screening that rare art film that you are dying to see, this cinema is best avoided.

Comfortable seating for even a long film to watch, enough space for your legs to stretch, a well stocked bar - and a great selection of the latest films!
Perfect place!

Curzon Mayfair is an excellent example of a venue able to provide a good experience. A plush quite foyer to relax with a drink, knowledgeable friendly staff. Two screens one large enough to host premiers and special screenings and s smaller screen that had been decked out with lamps, small side tables and a good number of reclining seats. The variety of films shown is the hallmark of all Curzon cinemas, really enjoyable way to go to the pictures.
