My first visit. Excellent exibitions and installations. Intimate space and a really calm atmosphere. Front of house staff were lovely. I think I bored the young man who was showing me the photos as he was yawning openly!!!!

I've been here twice now, and there are regularly changing works of art featuring a range of artists. I would recommend this refreshing and different gallery; go with an open mind and you will be pleasantly surprised. I like the light airy feel of the place. The whole area surrounding the gallery is worth a visit too.

Quietly doing its own thing for 6 years Jay Jopling's White Cube in Bermondsay continues to show museum quality art on a massive scale. Off the beaten track but worth popping in a few times a year just to see what is on. Good book shop with limited edition works for sale. No cafe on site but free toilets.

The gallery has a series of beautiful rooms with space to display large scale works of art plus space to breath and viewing from a distance. The shows we saw (Ibrahim Mahama & Josiah McElheny) while very different were excellent.

Well worth visiting if you afre anywhere near London Bridge (and the streets aroud the gallery are really interesting too). Modern exhibition space with a changing and well-curated exhibition programme (check for details). Space is all on one level and is very accessible. Entry is free.

Overrated artworks. The organisation is so corporate that the manager does not provide their staff with chairs. The building is nice inside, but a bit soulless.Expensive bookshop. Avoid unless it is raining! Nice staff.

The White Cube has been delivering great art shows for a long time now and this space in Bermondsey for me it's the culmination of their work. The building is already very interesting - as it was a Fire Station and it's got a sort of Fahrenheit 451/Clockwork Orange kind of feel from the outside and inside is also stunning.... More

Free, a short walk from London Bridge station and lots of exhibition space. All good things. Popped along to see Anselm Kiefer's Valhalla installations, sculptures and paintings. Very clever work with lead, nice full gallery installation creatives and a few thought inspiring moments. I hadn't thought before about what happened between the Viking killing fields and Walhalla, but Kiefer' solution... More

We visited for Anselm Kiefer and I was impressed by the bravery of this uncompromising show. For what is a commercial gallery they really take amazing risks in their curation which is laudable as entrance is free. Its about a ten minute walk from London Bridge but well worth the mini trek (in the wet). I loved how they used... More

Generally I use to visit it during London Freeze or for specific exhibition. This time I went to visit Kiefer's exhibition: the result is great and I was surprised to see how they readapt the place for Kiefer's work. Always a great space.

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
