Went during daytime to get the views. Loved the telescopic information points which let you know which iconic buildings you are viewing. Great surprise in the ladies toilets - unspoiled views across London from the cubicle at the end. Suspenseful as the window cleaners had just abseiled from the top with much display of machismo and could have appeared at... More

Only 2 elevators which take about 3 minutes in total before you reach floor 68! The first impression is rather spectacular and the interactive IPads are a very nice touch. We went at 6 so that we could watch the sun set at 6.30 which I would recommend. We also paid for the champagne experience as it was a gift... More

Even though it was a very rainy day when I visited, the view was still very visible. You have a 360 degree view of the entire city. I was on the 69th floor observation deck and you can go up to an open air 72nd floor observation deck if you so choose.

Easy online booking, simple check-in, friendly helpful staff throughout & then up to the view from 69th floor. Whilst that was great, the 'feel' and experience of the open-air Sky Deck on 72nd was the most memorable! Even the bar there was reasonable, at £22 for four beers, ciders & wine. We arrived at 5pm so our 90-minute slot included... More

Easy to find right next to London Bridge tube station. Very helpful and accommodating staff. People on every level to help you through the experience. Spent around an hour and a half on the top level, nobody rushes you to go,you can take your time. It's something you'll probably only do once,so you really should if you get the chance.

The view from the shard is amazing. Check the weather before you go as you may be entitled to a refund if it's cloudy up the top! Add the champagne to your booking and make it that bit more special!

Lovely visit to the Shard, would definitely recommend, wonderful views. We went at night and I found it easier as I am quite scared of heights but I still thought it is great, a must see!

Amazing experience with truly beautiful views on a clear day. Drinks at the bar are very reasonably priced and every member of staff is more polite than you could wish for. A**** experience

I was determined to do this visit, despite my fear of elevators and tall buildings. The entrance is a bit surprising, just as you leave London bridge station. Security was appropriate and we were quickly guided to the queue for the lifts. The wait was brief and the lifts themselves were very reassuring. You are rapidly transported to the 33rd... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
