Forgive me for actually having lived around the corner from this gem and not visited for years, after all who would expect to find a windmill right on Brixton Hill. I passed the sign for years and never really contemplated how close it is, just a few minutes walk to the end of a road off Brixton Hill. It recently... More

This is something I didn't expect to come across in London. Although this was a good tour, staff were slightly arrogant.

Amsterdam is not the only place with windmills. They locals and very proud to talk about the historic value of the the windmill. If you're lucky, you might get to see it in use!

Pretty basic, and not much to see when it isn't open. However, the restoration that has been conducted is pretty amazing and there is a nice little children's park adjacent if you've brought toddlers along too. An integral part of Brixton's history.

About 15 walk from Brixton LUL, or there are buses running up Brixton hill (about 3 stops). I booked online for the 2pm free tour of the windmill. Then I decided I would also do the local guided walking tour at 1pm, which cost £5. A small group of us walked around Brixton Hill with our guide, a local councillor,... More

We went there in a morning walk around the area we were staying. In a small park stood this "little" gem (much taller than us though). We then went for a walk in the nearby Brockwell Park too.

You must come and see for yourself. They have milling days and all sorts of celebrations throughout the year. It's FREE and... More
