The house & the gardens were simply amazing. We visited during February half term where kids had the opportunity to get involved in some half term activities. The audio tour was very interesting and it was great to see my kids enjoying all these details about the house. It is amazing to know all the interesting events took place in... More

An amazing insight into the life of the wealthy Coutauld family who transformed this ancient building into a home where they entertained in style. Take the excellent audio tour (free of charge) and relish the architectural details in the rooms. Take a walk in the delightful gardens, and if it's a fine day spot the buildings in the City in... A trip back in time, in a classic of its period. A wonderfully designed home of a wealthy family. Very interesting stories abound as you wonder round this beautiful house. The gardens are also very beautifully laid out and they themselves are worth a separate visit.

This place is a revelation, with its stunning mixture of decadent 1930s luxury, the whiff of society parties and royal history. The guides are passionate and knowledgeable, and even the multimedia iPods work very well. The cafe serves affordable, good, fresh food, with a play area on view just outside, and the gardens are stunning, even in winter.

The audio guide was excellent and brought the palace and grounds to life. Loved the way it was presented and it made sure we didn't leave one bit of the house unexplored. The house itself is beautiful but not as modern/ gorgeous as the audio guide keeps suggesting, but impressive for its time nonetheless. It's much too cold to visit... More

Fascinating combination of new and old at Eltham Palace. I take all my visitor friends here to see where Henry VIII lived and grew up before he became king. The great hall still stands and is beautiful - and quite simple. It was used as an air raid station during the Biltz and so has interesting stories around that period... More

Visiting family and was taken here. There is a cost but it is worth a visit and to wander around the gardens. Lots to see and very pleasant gardens.

Visited palace and gardens today. It appears to be a hidden secret...... just loved it. Fascinating how the Art Deco house was added to the ancient grand hall. The social life at the palace in the late 30s must have been amazing..... you really get a good idea listening to the multimedia players you are issued with and by looking... More

I visit Eltham Palace regularly, I love the art deco house, the medieval great hall and the splendid gardens and views across London, but the christmas decorations were very disappointing, such a missed opportunity. However don't let that put you off visiting! I was at Polesden Lacey earlier in the week and there decorations were excellent!
