About
This market is one of London’s oldest and largest food markets, with over 100 delicatessens, butchers, fishmongers, and cheesemakers selling fresh produce, meats, artisanal delicacies, and more. It's where locals come to do their grocery runs, and where travelers can come to try some of the best British food in a historic setting. Join a food and market tour of London to make sure you don't miss any of the best stalls. It gets busy on weekend afternoons, and some traders aren't open on all days—typically on limited market days early in the week—so be sure to plan ahead. – Tripadvisor

Neighbourhood: Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.

    Beautiful food market in London
I went to this market with my girlfriend during a holiday in London. The covered structure is located near London Bridge train station and is home to a number of food stalls. The exhibitors are divided by activity. You can find sellers of fruits, vegetables, fish, meat, bread, honey, prepared foods and much more. The queues for street food, especially chocolate covered strawberries, are very long but flowing. There are also common areas where you can comfortably consume what you have purchased but this is not easy during peak hours. find a free place.

    Lots of fresh produce!
Lots of stalls selling fresh produce, so much to choose from. Very busy at the weekends but a real buzz about it! Always a place that we like to visit when we are in London. Our favourite ms are the scotch eggs and the large pretzels!

A Must visit: a nice place to taste food from different cultures
My wife and I visited Borough Market on a Saturday at lunch time (11:45-12:15). One of the best experience in London. So nice to see so many different kitchens and cultures in one food market. The market is very popular and crowded. You need to have patience (for waiting) when visiting this market. I have seen 25 meter queues at some stands. Borough Market is a must visit if you are in London and love like world kitchens and cultures.

    Great Food Market
Visited this food market while in London last week. So many excellent food stalls here, and such variety. You'll be spoiled for choice. We also got had excellent coffee here. There are also shops to buy herbs and spices and we purchased some from @spice mountain. Well worth a visit if you're in London.

    Yes, It is All That
Simply a collision of everything that is good in life. It definitely is worth the visit. The crowds, the lines, the sights & sounds, the tastes & smells. Magnificent experience. Do not be in a rush. Take your time to take it all in. We found a fantastic spot at a wine bar. Sat ourselves down and watched life go by. The vibrance of it all paired well with our tapas and vino. This is a place where people gather and strike conversations. The sound off the overground above us brought me back to Chicago and NYC. Gotta visit London markets! We will certainly be back.

    Fabulously vibrant
I hadn't read any reviews so turned up expecting a huge east London style market. It was much more artisan than I expected and has a fantastic vibrancy with lots to buy on offer. Not cheap but you can get so much from simply wandering around. We went to get late breakfast which was far more relaxed than going at lunchtime when it does feel very manic! Highly recommend, even my teen son loved it!

Still going strong and always worth a visit.
Still going strong and highly recommended if visiting London. Hadn’t been in several years (pre-pandemic) but was happy to find out that all of my favorite food potions were stilll available. Everyone should try the grilled chorizo roll from Brindisa!

    Good selection
Visited yesterday 22.02.24 busy little market with various food options available, looked really good and prise was reasonable for what appears good quality. I stupidly went to the Fish! Kitchen under the arches.. big mistake! Fair bit of seating available and toilets available only downside was the bloke with a guitar, trying to sing who ruined an OASIS classic (bring ear defenders)

Look for Bridget Jones’ Front door!
This is an amazing food market that seems to be very busy almost all the time. A great place if you’re hungry. You’ll be spoiled for choice. Whilst you’re there, see if you can find Bridget Jones’ front door!

Don't Skip Borough (or the Strawberries!)
Spent a hour wandering around and enjoying the delicious food stands. We tried the famous chocolate strawberries and they lived up to the hype! Shared mussels and chips and they were out of this world. Paella was good and husband enjoyed a corned beef sandwich. Longest wait was the line for Humble Crumble but worth it with delicious shortbread topping and real fresh whipped cream. Extremely crowded on a Wednesday afternoon the week before Easter - would love to visit again when the crowds aren't so crazy.

Though jammed with shoppers on the Saturday before Christmas, we savored both the sights and the tastes. The cheese stalls in particular are beyond fabulous, and one can have little bites and nibbets in a lot of places, comprising by the end a grazing meal. I would recommend morning because the market become more and more crowded as the day moved on. A very easy tube connection.

Borough has a world class reputation and it certainly lives up to it. So much amazing food to eat right there at the market, and plenty to take home too. You'll want to take photos, everything is so beautifully displayed and quintissentially English. I heartily recommend the steak sandwich at Portena, the mushroom risotto and fish and chips and was it all down with an amazing value glass of bubbly from Cartwright Wines. Lush.

So much to see and buy clothing, shoes you name it - plus so many different types of food from many countries to try. We found an "All you can eat" - fixed price -Chinese restaurant on the main street which was really nice. good food at reasonable prices

Borough Market is vibrant & quirky - it’s a great place to walk around and find some unique food items from all over the world. It also has a few nice restaurants and bars nearby if you fancy stopping for a drink or a bite to eat.

In the summer you can buy street food from the market & sit along the river bank of the Thames with views of the city it’s beautiful.

When we visited it wasn’t overly busy, but was quite expensive and some of the things were not worth the money.

Overall it’s a great place to visit if you’re looking to explore for an hour or so.

We were eagerly looking forward to grabbing some lunch I'm Borough Market with our three children and it didn't disappoint. The bustle was great and there were lots of 'covid wardens' around ensuring good queuing etc. We wished we'd gone s little earlier as our children were hungry when we got there so we mainly got to look round the street food/hot food area. They had pasta which was a bit of a disappointment. We had Mexican which was delicious. My partner wanted an alcoholic drink and on a quick sweep round one of the only ones I could find was a coder place and opted for medium dry New Forest cider. It unfortunately tasted like homebrew and my husband thought it was pretty unpleasant (as did I) - definitely an acquired taste and we've sampled quite a lot of cider over the years! The seating was fab and the sun was shining. Overall we had a great experience.

You can buy food originating virtually from any european country there but it is over priced, exposed to the elements, bugs and flies. Today Saturday at 12.00 PM was overcrowded on the verge of heaving and really unpleasant if you hate crowds. Yes, it is very trendy and atmospheric but once is enough.

Despite it being my second time visiting Borough Market, the experience was equally splendid as my initial attendance. My father and I went on a Monday afternoon and although it was less busy than our first Friday encounter; the atmosphere still buzzed with the hustle and bustle of those around us. From hot dishes like paella and curries, to a plethora of freshly baked cakes to satisfy any sweet tooth; there were plenty of opportunities to try something unfamiliar to our routine meal deals.
After queuing for around twenty minutes for a lovely little stall selling bagels, we both tucked into a rather generous salt beef bagel, complete with mustard and gherkins. However, it is worthy to note that the prices are higher than those from your typical supermarket, yet perfectly justifiable; I must admit it was both refreshing and pleasing to have the opportunity to support small businesses during these difficult times.
The local businessmen were all polite and friendly; keen to engage in trivial small talk despite the stress of sometimes single-handedly operating their stalls. I revisited a stall selling fresh olives and the lady was more than willing to permit me to try a mouth-watering chilli and garlic olive before making my selection. She was even accommodating to my father who struggled with the flavour of the heavily laden chilli olive and gave him some humus to soothe the burn.
I will definitely be returning to this delightful market and should I ever find myself working in the local area in the years to come, I would not be surprised if I became a regular customer to these stalls!
Highly and happily recommended.

Travelling with my nephew from Australia, he was a huge seafood fan and wanted to experience anything and everything in the food range. Borough Market was right up his alley!
I have to say it was pretty impressive - I am not a seafood fan, but I loved watching him taste and enjoy. The fresh fruit and vegetables were displayed beautifully and there was pretty much anything and everything that you could ever want to eat.
What I struggled with is that you eat on your feet or on the run in a bustling market 0 they make the most of their space for retail stalls, but not much for the comfort of customers!

The bustling market is lined with restaurants around the edges and has a lot of food and produce stalls all around. I did notice most of the stalls were food orientated so it is a great place to come by if you're peckish or hungry and looking for something to eat. There is so much variety available and plenty of food trucks and permanent stalls that sell a lot of different things.
I managed to find a traditional pork pie place, Mrs King's. It was cold and I really wasn't sure if I'd enjoy it but it was delicious. The crumbly, crispy crust covers the pork and jelly laden filling. I think it is something to try once. Also had the scotch eggs and doughnuts which were all quite tasty. The only problem is the lack of seating but you can normally find a quiet corner somewhere to enjoy your finds.

Visited Borough Market with a group of us. FANTASTIC food options from literally so so so many different cuisines. Catering to vegan, vegetarian as well. We had the most delicious toastie we have ever had, also an amazing sausage roll from The Ginger Pig. The juices in the middle of the market were also awesome, and yep had the blood orange lemonade as well as the mint lemonade and they were so incredibly refreshing. The fruit markets had cheap and great quality fresh strawberries and raspberries as well as other great quality produce. Would definitely recommend visiting this market and make sure you share food with someone and try a number of different things. The only negative was the minimal seating and long toilet line, but I guess that just shows how popular and amazing the Market is!
