We were so fortunate to have our hotel next to the DLR station on our trip to London. Just out of the front door and in to the train. It's a nice and fast way to get to the center of the city. Stops at 'Tower' or 'Banks' so right in the center. Every few minutes there's a train coming... More

DLR is a refreshing way to travel in east London - still can be cramped in carriages but getting to see out the windows and getting fresh air when stops is a bonus

This line can get busy if there is a problem which we experienced on the Saturday but it was very quick on the Sunday. The only problem we had was they changed the destination of the train after we had boarded. If English is not your first language you may miss the announcements as they didn't advise of the change.... More

The DLR offers nice views when compared to the underground but we do find that they don't offer a frequent enough service which then leads to overcrowded trains in peak times.

Ever since my first visit to London when I was a mere nipper, I have enjoyed travelling on the Underground but since the Docklands Light Railway has been built, the part of the London Transport network that I enjoy trips on the most just has to be that! It is based predominantly in the East of the capital but extends... More

Having travelled to London via the trains my entire life, I had never experienced a ride on the Light Railway, it was amazing! We incorporated it in with our travel plans during a family stop over at the Royal Victoria Docklands and was not disappointed. The children enjoyed the chance to ride at the front and we enjoyed the ease... More

We used the DLR to travel this last weekend. Everything was going well until we travelled from Woolwich Arsenal accross the Thames. The trip to the first stop has got to without a doubt the worst stretch I have ever been on. The carriage shook violently, the effect of this was nauseating by the time it came to a stop.... More

The DLR is efficient and easy to use. It's a great way to see all the highlights of the east end, Greenwich, Canary Wharf and the docks. Services are very frequent and trains clean.

Our hotel was nearby to the DLR station and as you mostly travel on the underground we thought be nice to actually see above ground and travel using these trains. Was very quick, efficient and you scan your oyster card after you leave the train and you must or you could be hit with a large fine! Would use these... More

The Docklands Light Railway is an interesting part of the London public transportation system and offere connections to many areas in the docklands area. Fun ride.

Staying in Westminster

Neighbourhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
