My sister and I had booked to stay at London Liverpool Street but got moved to this branch because of overbooking (which should be illegal in my opinion but hey ho). We turned up to LS to check in at 10pm after a theatre trip and were told there had been a ‘maintenance issue’ and that we had to move. The staff at Docklands the next morning confirmed that this was a lie and that they had just given our room away.

Upon arriving at the Docklands hotel, the rooms were filthy and had not been adequately cleaned AT ALL. There was no coffee in one room, a clogged sink, mouldy walls and one room even had actual human faeces floating in the toilet. How Travelodge can justify charging £86.99 per room when we ended up in the WRONG area of London and in a disgusting room, I will never understand. I have been trying to get a refund all week and keep being told that it’s not a severe enough case for a full refund. What would need to happen in order for me to get a full refund then?? It seems that this quality of service is totally normal for them.

Disgusting.

Do not stay there.

Stayed for westlife at the 02 and had a good stay... excellent customer service from Waleed and junaid specifically... the hotel was clean and tidy. We have back after the concert and had some drinks at the 24 hour bar. Would definitely recommend.

Well, matey, this is where the rubber meets the road and work gets done. Nothing fancy. Port Tilbury is in the area (or so they tell us "hired hands") and we loads them up and unloads them, alright. Ahoy!

In our water-borne London travels, we had ample opportunities to see the movers-and-shakers putting commerce in motion. Hard working, strong, determined men doing what they do best. Our caps go off to you guys!

It's not unlike our American cowboys on the frontier. These are the men who got things done (and still do).

Most of the biggest banks in one square and ample shops nearby with modern underground stations on transport commuters.

Had reason to visit East London and the decaying Docklands area of London about 1981 and not impressed. Couldn't be more different nowadays after the regeneration that has been achieved over the last 20yrs or so with the development of Canary Wharf, the Western Gateway, Excel, City Airport, O2 Arena etc. There is even a University there at Beckton as well as the excellent Docklands Light Railway, the DLR.

All very good but..........I feel it is lacking in warmth. Nice, neat and tidy but what about the people and not just business. Many of the areas do not encourage relaxation. Where are the Dockside parks with trees, grass and benches? Under utilised water for recreation. Near ExCel empty restaurants and businesses. If this was Central London it would be thronged with people, here it was very sparse, a bit like a ghost town at times.

It has grown physically but not organically. Don't get me wrong, I would always prefer to stay in a hotel in the area but then travel into Central London for everything else!

Docklands lie east of the City of London and mostly North of the River Thames. The area has transformed so much and is now a major business centre and an increasingly desirable area to live.
