Good area to explore

We love the area of Shad Thames and over the river to Wapping. Canary Wharf is also good to explore.

Docklands lie east of the City of London and mostly North of the River Thames. The area has transformed so much and is now a major business centre and an increasingly desirable area to live.

'Docklands' is not a discrete district of London but refers mainly to the areas east of The City and Bankside which were formerly the 'beating heart' of the world's busiest port, centred on the River Thames downriver from the Tower Bridge. Some of the actual...More

Built at enormous expense London Docklands is a great missed opportunity to create a really attractive new quarter in London. Many visitors are clearly impressed by the size and quality of materials used in the construction of the area. They fall to appreciate that it...More

Canary Wharf and the surrounding areas are well worth a visit. Beautiful buildings. Lots of underground shops. Outdoor ice rink. Green areas with fairy lights. Bars and restaurants.

Very clean and 'business-like' as expected. We only passed through on the DLR on our way to Greenwich but were quite impressed and certainly a different part of London to have a quick look around while switching between tube and DLR.
