This monument to the abolition of slavery is stunning close up due to the large variety of materials used in its construction and artistic methods that have been employed to decorate it.

Very attractive monument that reminded me of the Albert Memorial. It is in a beautiful setting in the park by the river.

The memorial fountain is located in Victoria Tower Gardens, towards the Lambeth Bridge side; it was commissioned by Charles Buxton (who was a Member of Parliament) to remember his father’s (Sir Thomas Buxton) and other peoples role in abolishing slavery in the United Kingdom.
