- Lisahwood10 contributionsSuperb!Had read some recent bad reviews so was not holding out for much however I was very pleasantly surprised. My husband, ten year old son and I all thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. It definitely helps if you know the story of the Wizard of Oz as it could be a bit confusing otherwise and you might miss some of the references to it. The singing, performing and stage effects were great and even though we were sat in the dress circle, there were no issues with sound volume or clarity. A fantastic show and a brilliant night out.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 14 February 2024
- Anthony BKeighley, United Kingdom13 contributionsTotally wicked!I cannot recommend this show enough. I’ve never been to a musical before, so this was a brilliant beginning for me. A fantastic twist on a well established story, the plot races along at a riveting pace. I would definitely return for another performance.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 17 February 2024
- Jack KNewcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom108 contributionsA must see show.My boyfriend and I went to see Wicked on February 17th and it was phenomenal. We were sat in the middle of the third row of the stalls which gave an amazing view of the show. The entire cast performed amazingly and it was a really fun and engaging story with fun songs (my personal favourite being ‘Defying Gravity’). I couldn’t recommend this show more as it give a fun twist on The Wizard of Oz story we all know and love.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 February 2024
- FarAway569046477131 contributionA wicked experience!Simply phenomenal! All the cast was excellent, Christine Tucker made me laugh so much throughout the whole show! There is so much going on and many important details to the story that seeing it once it is definitely not enough.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 25 February 2024
- Johnny G Bristo... KBristol, United Kingdom3 contributionsFabulous magical romp!Really enjoyed this with my daughter. It's just such a good twist on the original plot. Defying gravity is tbe highlight of the show, however the rest of the score is unremarkable. But it was well sang throughout and the sets and costume was stunning.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 13 March 2024
- Louise W8 contributionsWikid the musicalLoved the musical. Costumes. Stage Settings. Face to paints. The cast were amazing vocals. Although noticed not much dancing. Although tells a story well. - Kitty4 contributionsSo wicked!!This is my fifth time seeing wicked and probably my favourite! I purchased my tickets the week before on atgtickets for £29.50 for front row!! We were sat in A22&23. It was the first time I was front row at a show and it really is a different experience! You are right in the middle of everything and really see the small details that you miss when sitting further back. We also got the emerald elixir drink which is quite tasty and a very fitting green colour!Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 10 April 2024
- Tracey C4 contributionsVery entertainingI had never seen Wicked before and was always on my must-see list. I was finally able to go to see it in London with my family. It was funny, entertaining, and a love story with a twist. It gave me a whole new love for The Wizard of Oz.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 28 April 2024
- Margaret LHockley, United Kingdom118 contributionsA great showI have wanted to see Wicked for some time and had the opportunity through a works trip. Before we went I read the reviews and was a bit worried about how the sound quality would be but I thoroughly enjoyed the show. Although not much knee room in the theatre we found the seats comfortable. Shame about the students in front of us who kept looking at their phones, very distracting.Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 29 April 2024
- Kelly J1 contributionAmazing performance!!Amazing singing, costumes and overall performances! Absolutely loved this, as did my daughters - left smiling and singing, brought me back to my childhood, piecing together the original Wizard Of Oz. Thankyou to those involved - incredibly talented 😊Written 25 May 2024

We booked tickets the day before the show.
Because we already know the musical, we opted for the £39 tickets (upstairs and towards the back) and from there (N39) you could still see the stage very well. It was a bit too far to really see details of faces, but that didn't bother us.
The musical was a wonderful experience for me and I would have loved to go back every day to see it again.
I would recommend listening to songs beforehand though, because then the experience is completely different.

Attended the Apollo as a couple with our two children aged 15 and 10.
Seated in row C of the dress circle we had great seats, with plenty of legroom and good rake so no heads in the way from the rows in front.
Wicked tells the story of what might have been the lead up to “Wizard of Oz” with back stories for the Wicked Witch (Elphaba), the Good Witch (Glinda) and the Lion, tin man and scarecrow.
Immerse yourself and the the production itself is fantastic, really good lighting, choreography and in Lucie Jones and Helen Woolf two simply incredible vocalists, especially Lucie Jones as Elphaba. “Defying Gravity” is in itself spectacular.
The story itself tells the complex relationship between Elphaba and her family, with a twist or two in the tale that you might not be expecting.
It’s worth noting that those around us with younger children were constantly whispering and talking with the younger kids constantly fidgeting which can’t have been enjoyable for those parents and was annoying to those around them and when you’ve paid nearly 100£ for a ticket it’s not really ideal.
It’s a long show for a young child and actually the story is probably a little too mature for many younger children to be able to understand. Unless your children have proven otherwise, anything younger than 10 is likely to be too young for kids in my view.
All in all, the Apollo was a good venue for a really good show

I loved a handful of songs before I went to see Wicked so maybe I'm biased but this show was incredible. My friend and I sat in the back row and could clearly hear the dialog and understand the plot. Some of these reviews found the plot hard to follow but the friend I went with only knew the plot of The Wizard of Oz because I told her beforehand and she understood the plot of this musical fine. However, the actress for Elphaba was the teeniest bit pitchy but didn't ruin the stellar soundtrack. If you dislike musical theatre, it might not be for you, but I'd recommend it any day of the week.

We paid £40 per seat for upper seats very close to the back of the theatre. There were many distractions due to noise of people eating snacks like popcorn bought around by staff members. It’s not a cinema so the sound from the performance and the visuals doesn’t travel at the back of the theatre - so the noisy eaters were a distraction and a disappointment. We did our best to try and ignore these distractions - but wish they weren’t there as it did impact on the over all experience.
That aside here is my review of the stage show:
First act - FANTASTIC. The singing from all cast members was really top notch. Loved the costumes and choreography too. Set design very minimal which surprised (and slightly disappointed) me but over all I enjoyed it a lot. I was well primed for the second act..
However act one was in quite a stark contrast to act two.
Unfortunately there was a technical hitch so the performance was paused for about 20 minutes (these things happen I understand that and that was not really an issue) but the continuation of minimal set design and very samey songs unfortunately became a bit dull. Not to give too much away - but the end felt like an anxi-climax - nothing the performers could do to save this - it needs revamping to improve the impact - it could be a significant ending but the lighting/ positioning of the performers/ etc etc etc.. was messy and uninteresting - it felt like the actors just skulked off in to oblivion .. not their fault of - think it needs better stage direction lighting and a song fitting of a finale..

Really disappointed.
The production itself felt somewhat cheap (especially when compared to similar productions of the same price tag).
The good: the lead actresses were fantastic, genuinely mind blowing in some scenes!
However, I looked up reviews here after we’d watched it just to see if we were imagining the audio quality, but as it turns out many other people seemed to have the same criticism. The audio quality at times was all over the place in the theatre, a lot of the time it was really difficult to hear what characters were saying. Additionally, during some musical sequences, high notes were pretty much inaudible which is a shame.
The theatre itself is very old and the seating is incredibly uncomfortable. In addition, we had a group of people in front of us that simply wouldn’t stop checking their mobile phones/chatting throughout the entire production which truly ruined the experience

An absolutely dreadful Sunday afternoon matinee. Three persons £225 plus booking fee a complete waste of money and we left at the interval. Probably the worst money I have wasted in my life. The actors were obviously the under studies and completely unable to engage the audience.

Seen Wicked twice because of our 9 year old daughter. As someone who has seen and enjoyed many musicals, Wicked is honestly not worth seeing in my opinion. We managed to get cheap seats at the front in the stalls. If I’d of paid the usual high seat prices of London theatres, wicked would definitely get a 1 star review. It’s a low quality, low cost production that gets many likes due to its association with the wizard of oz. It’s a flat, standard, run of the mill, no frills, predictable production with boring time filling songs that are not memorable , apart from one of course. No special effects, nothing to make you say wow, nothing at all to make it stand out. In other words, boring.
Others obviously see something that they enjoy.. Each to their own I suppose.

I also have to agree with other reviewers that the sound quality is TERRIBLE. We were towards the front of the dress circle and I’d say for a solid 50% of the musical numbers I truly couldn’t understand a word that was being said.
My daughter had been desperate to see this show so we gave in and took her a little earlier than the suggested age limit. As she is on the much younger side of the age range (6) we expected that she likely wouldn’t understand some the finer plot points or even some of the larger ones too. However, another adult in our party also commented that they lost track of the plot at certain points and I had to conclude that had I not known the musical as well as I do then I too would have missed a lot of the smaller plot points and been confused at times.
I really enjoyed Lucy St Louis as Glinda, she’s probably the best Glinda I’ve ever seen and it almost felt more her story than Elphaba’s at times. Other aspects the show felt flat and lacking in energy at times (possibly due to the fact that we were seeing the last show of the week but at quite an expense so not a great excuse for low energy in the cast as much as I sympathise!).
All in all…I actually would recommend this show if it weren’t for the shockingly bad sound. It really impacts on your enjoyment and understanding of the show. Bar prices also insane, £12.50 for a single g&t!!

It seems like they spent so much on the stage and props that they thought that would deflect from the screechy singing, plot holes, lack of acting, and awful sound-mixing. The sound was far too loud that you couldn’t understand a single word. None of the story made sense. The singers were good, but they could not harmonise and the vocals just did not pair well. Everything just sounded like a cat shrieking. Also, why is there a dragon? The dragon makes no sense. The stage set up didn’t seem to fit the story at all, it looked like a pirate ship. Very juvenile and gave off major panto vibes. We saw Lion King and paid the same price for the tickets, Wicked seemed like a cheap local Xmas panto you’d pay £15 a ticket for. No wonder that in their T&Cs states no refunds at all. Absolutely shocking.

Unfortunately we didn't like it!
In our opinion, it is an unexciting show, with silly and childish content.
Lots of talk, dialogue and little music.
The audience was older people.
The theater was not full on Thursday and there were many empty seats.
The theater is great, it's not very big, excellent visibility from all seats, there are no columns in the middle of the audience obstructing the view.
You can buy the seat at the price that is most convenient for you, as they are all great and you will be able to have great visibility of the stage and the actors from the cheapest to the most expensive tickets.
Don't worry about that.
We charged for “DRESS CIRCLE” seats L 04 and L 05, only paid £25 each ticket and were very pleased with the visibility.
My wife has limited walking, but she climbs the stairs, and the staff were very helpful, they stored her “mobility scooter” and made the access route easier.

I think so It’s not scary it’s not about scary witches it’s about love an understanding. It’s not scary monkeys it’s dramatic music. If you let your kids see wizard of Oz the film then this show is fine.

Hello,
Can anyone tell me the best seats to book for Wicked with a good view?
Obviously exceptionally expensive but I would like a ground floor view so I do not have to go up high in the theatre and avoid a lot of steps? Thank you.

We sat up on the first row of the top balcony...they were good seats but you do have to walk up a few flights of stairs. The only thing you couldn't see at some times was the very back of the stage but it definitely didn't ruin the show for us. hope you get your seats the show is brilliant!!!!!
