St Martin-in-the-Fields is a landmark. Its fine Georgian architecture and prominent location place it at the heart of the nation. Its work has valued historic tradition, but St Martin’s has always been innovative in response to changing needs. From London’s first free lending library to the first religious broadcast, St Martin’s has broken new ground in defining what it means to be a church. Solidifying its position for years to come, St Martin's has an award-winning cafe, puts on concerts with London's best musicians, and hosts fantastic events in its unique subterranean spaces. Free lunchtime concerts take place every Monday, Tuesday and Friday, a fantastic way to hear both established and emerging stars of the classical scene. As well as the fantastic food on offer in the Cafe in the Crypt, during the summer months St Martin's opens the Cafe in the Courtyard, offering a host of al fresco delights.

We came for one of the evening orchestra concerts. Surprisingly, it was not sold out on a Saturday night. We had purchased mid priced tickets online prior to the trip, and were pleased to discover that we still had a fine view. I loved the...More

Saint-Martin-in-the-Fields is a very fine, dignified, church on Trafalgar Square. It presents free (donation is requested) classical concerts at lunch time many days. The concerts add a nice touch, and provide a good break, from a day of sightseeing in central London.

The church is relative plain, although the plaster ceiling is very decorative. The church provides an oasis of calm in the vibrant heart of London and has a wonderful acoustic. I was lucky enough to hear a young orchestra rehearsing for an evening concert

I have always heard this mentioned on MPR at home. I used to envision this wonderful little church surrounded by fields and when told that it was in the center of the city was a little bummed. But it's a wonderful little church with wonderful...More

The best seats are in the nave and towards the front in the middle so your view is not obscured. We booked our seats online 6 weeks prior to the Vivaldi Gloria concert and had front row seats which were fantastic. Even if... More
