About
Established in the 1970’s, Mudchute Park and Farm is one of the largest city farms in Europe. With 32 acres of countryside, located a stone's throw away from the hustle and bustle of Canary Wharf, the farm is a place where you can experience rural life without leaving the city. We are proud to be one of London's only Rare Breed Survival Trust's Approved Conservation Farm Parks. The farm is home to over 100 animals, including pigs, sheep, goats, cows, ducks, geese, chickens, rabbits, and even llamas. Visitors can get up close and personal with the animals by feeding them or petting them under the supervision of the farm's expert staff. Mudchute Park and Farm is a fantastic destination for families, animal lovers, and anyone looking to escape city life and enjoy some time in nature. With its wide range of facilities and activities, there's something for everyone to enjoy at this unique urban farm.

Different types of ducks, goats, sheep, chickens, donkeys and ponies. Animals look well-cared for and happy. They sell food for a pound a bag but sadly no one was available to sell us any on our visit. Others had it, though, so maybe just poor timing. It’s run by volunteers so I can’t be too hard on them. Hard to believe you’re only a short walk from Canary Wharf and its shiny skyscrapers. Hopefully, the Cafe will reopen soon under new management.Thank you for taking time to leave your lovely review.Written 4 April 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 16 January 2024

- Vanessa19 contributionsCity EscapeSuch a beautiful “escape” from the city. We loved seeing all of the animals and walking through the park. There are so many birds and squirrels in addition to the farm animals. My husband and I enjoyed it as adults, but we saw many families with children there. The children were overjoyed getting to feed and watch the animals.Thank you for your wonderful review.Written 6 June 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 April 2024
- Zapryan DLondon, United Kingdom144 contributionsAn amazing free farm almost in the middle of LondonI visited Mudchute park and farm at the end of October last year with my girlfriend and I was astonished that I hadn't come across this island of peace and quiet before. We greatly enjoyed exploring the farm and seeing the various animals up close, including llamas, pigs, sheep, pheasants and goats. Entry is free and the farm's only a short walk away from Greenwich, so I recommend you take the opportunity to explore Greenwich's lovely parks, the great food market and one of its charming pubs after visiting the farm.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 July 2024

This was my first visit with my very young grandchildren and family last Sunday and it was a great experience. Plenty of animals to see including friendly lamas in addition to the usual farmyard animals and pets such as rabbits. An excellent cafe is the icing on the cake and the cakes were delicious as well as the hot drinks. So a must if you have young children as they will enjoy the extensive area to explore. The adjacent park is yet to be explored on a future visit. And to top it all it is free entry.

Not like it used to be.
Many years ago, my son and I would visit and hand feed HORSES. Horses each had their own stable with their own name above the door. Animal feed used to be 50p. It was quiet, no matter what day of the week it was.
There were cows, bulls, rabbits, and the usual chickens, goats, donkeys, pigs etc. There would be no more than 10 people on the farm. Nobody had heard of it. Those were the days!
Fast forward almost 15 years later.
Queues and hordes of families, children etc. More people have discovered it! You can no longer see the horses as they've extended the paddock area which is off limits to the public. No bulls or cows in sight. Animal feed is now £1 and half a bag less. Duck pond is gone. Public can no longer walk among the sheep that used to graze on the hills, thanks to the woke brigade/ health & safety.
Only upsides are the addition of llamas, bigger picnic area and animals are well looked after.
Not sure why people expect customer service when it's a FARM.
Will visit again but only when kids return to school.
I only came because my friend has kids and wanted to take them out.
I was shocked at the changes and how packed it was.
I am thankful my son and I had good times here when it used to be better.

I have been here many times before when I lived in London, and I always loved it. It was my go to place to cheer myself up. Its changed a lot since I last visited and seems bigger! My favourite ram didn't seem to be there anymore so I was sad about that, but it still made me happy walking round and my partner couldn't believe such a place was in the middle of London (his first time in the city).
We sadly couldn't see the ponies as it was closed off, and we didn't stay for food.
However I got some amazing photos on my new Nikon which was one of the reasons we visited last week, and the animals didn't disappoint, you can tell they are so used to people.
This place is a little piece of heaven for anyone feeling they need a serotonin boost.

Mudchute is a green farm which is about 30 minutes from Elephant Castle Station. There were plenty of animals that you can see. This is a place where you show your children how the animals look like and learn about their lives.
If you are interested to see sheep, Mudchute will be the right place for you. To me, I especially love sheep with white wool and cute face. I even made a short movie about Mudchute farm on my Youtube channel as well. The name of my channel is Sukha’s Channel. Welcome you to visit and hope this review will help you.

Great space to explore in London, you’d never believe you’re in the city. Fabulous for kids with animals to see, cafe for refreshments and plenty of space for walks. Combine it with a walk through the Greenwich foot tunnel and make a day of it.

I found this very dispiriting.
Multiple waterbirds crammed together in small cages with just a couple of plastic washing up bowls.
Animals in small enclosures with concrete floors. The creatures looked sad and depressed.
Cage after cage, enclosure after enclosure with too many creatures in too little space.
I know it is a farm and not a safari park, but many of these animals and birds are I think for display rather than for the table.
There were a few sheep in some nice grass paddocks but too much crowding elsewhere.

At this current moment in time the government has enforced a poultry and waterfowl lock down. To project captive birds and poultry from the threat of Avian Influenza, this means that all poultry and waterfowl have to be kept in fully netted enclosures. So we have had to do this to comply with the regulations. Ordinarily the waterfowl have access to the whole of the duck pond area that includes a large pond to swim and bathe in. The ducks are on wood chip in their pens which is replaced regularly and the baths are cleaned daily. With regard to the other birds in the aviaries the concrete slabs are the easiest flooring for us to clean and disinfect daily to keep them clean and healthy. As above the waterfowl will return to larger enclosures once the restrictions are lifted. All of our animals are cared for attentive fully qualified staff and if any of our animals show any signs of ill health a vet is called.
Thank you for your concern. I hope that this goes some way to answering your concerns. Please do ask a member of staff if you have any concerns on your next visit.

This is a fabulous little farm in the middle of the London skyline. We got there via the Greenwich foot tunnel and it's a short walk from the Millwall end to the farm and there are directions immediately available. It's a small farm but it's honestly charming and full of volunteers doing something they love, caring for animals.

Is it muddy there? Just wondering the type of shoes I should wear
Written 5 April 2018
I don't think it was especially muddy, there were proper paths around the farm, but it has been raining quite a lot lately so probably worth wearing something that you could clean easily, or are not your best shoes.

Is it far to walk from DLR as I am diabled
Written 8 April 2016
It involves a lot of walking both from the station (about 10-15 minutes) and once you get there. Everything is fairly spread out in the park, meaning that you will have to walk from point to point. However, if you choose to just visit one of the areas, you obviously won't have to walk as far. The paths are generally level.
