Impressive square in Westminster

A square full of statues like Churchill and surrounded by magnificent buildings and impressive views. Very busy to its location.

This is an important place in London. Many prominent buildings are situated here. Courts, cathedrals, parliament building, big ben, and many statues of world famous personalities like Abraham Lincoln, Churchill, Gandhi etc. are seen here. A most visited place by all visitors to London.

It is a relatively small but intersting square outside the Parliament Building often used for rallies and events but despite some interesting statues such as Winston Churchhill and others it is lost to a degree by the magnificent buioldings around it.

In this square you can find statues of great fighters for liberty or great people from Commonwealth countries together with Churchill. On the other side there are Churchill war rooms and as you should have expected The Parliament. It is a place that has a lot of architectural marvels combined with intriguing city scape.

People tend to pass the Square without a glance, with the Palace next to it ... but do stop and walk around it, taking in the many statues ... its worth it!

Have to visit Westminster for work but am never tired of admiring the amazing Palace of Westminster. At night when it is lit up it looks spectacular especially from the London eye. Portcullis house is also a good addition to the wider area and faces Big Ben. Standing in the middle of the square gives a good perspective on the... More

Parliament square is a beautiful place due the impressive architecture surrounding it. It is also a landmark of democracy as most demonstrations start or end here

In my opinion this square offers the best close up view of most of the Palace of Westminster, Westminster Abbey. It is safe here and free from the overcrowded pavements in this part of London. There is a grassed area where it is possible to sit providing it's not fenced off for an event, this is surrounded by a paved... More

Parliament Square is a must see part of the tour of the Parliament buildings. It is a familiar setting for many historical events and does not take long to see.

Staying in Westminster

Neighbourhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
