Opened in 1871, the Royal Albert Hall is the world’s most famous stage. It is also one of London’s most iconic and visited tourist attractions.

Over the years, it has been the scene of over 150,000 performances; from Wagner to Sinatra, The Beatles to Beyonce, Muhammad Ali to Adele, and is home to the celebrated BBC Proms.

Whilst the venue is most famous for its shows by night, by day this treasured building is open for coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and guided tours of the building.

Tip for tour ticket holders: Enjoy a 10% discount on items in the Hall’s gift shop and Cafe Bar.

I surprised my husband with an early birthday treat and attended the Classic FM live concert. When our tickets arrived information was given about the many restaurants in the Royal Albert Hall. I booked us a table in the Elgar Restaurant and it was magnificent. Our waitress, Clarissa, was so attentive and knowledgeable and made us felt incredibly welcome. My... More

Truly fantastic classic venue, just be aware that some of the seats are at the back of the stage and so you only see the rear of the artists. We were in a box at the side of the stage and whilst we enjoyed our evening, the angled view doesn't make you feel like you are fully part of the... More

Joe Bonamassa concert Friday 21st April 2017. Had 2nd tier box seats £100 each. Super view to take in the experience. Surprisingly disappointing sound on the night having been told the sound is good anywhere in the hall. 2nd Tier bars close early so if you fancy a beer or glass of wine (large Merlot £10) you have to head... Love going to the RAH. Recently saw Caro Emerald and the Gipsy Kings performs. Had a great time as did the audience who was dancing to the tunes.

This is one I must go back to see inside... Awesome to look at as we passed on the double decker; hop on/hop off bus.

Beautiful building that host fine events, from opera, theatre, musical, circus, to various events. The high light of the year is the BBC proms, outstanding performance.

I've been here a few times, and it's always been a great venue. The only downside is that the wine is very overpriced, with bottles of wine being at least 3 to 4 times what you would usually expect to pay from a shop, and certainly above what you'd expect to pay at a restaurant. Acoustically though, it's fantastic, whether... More

Staff very helpful and the venue was as good as ever. Had a great time singing along with all the like-minded loyal 'folkies' that regularly turn to see this great band. The loggia/box was very easy to access (after it had been unlocked!) and thee view was good. The bar was handy. We won't mention the ubiquitous queues for the... More

The food and drink prices are unnecessarily excessive. Its a shame as the experience could be so much nicer if these prices weren't so high

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
