The pricing at Baden Powell House is very good for a London location. So easy to get anywhere on the tube with two near stations. The staff are helpful and friendly. I have stayed... read more

To many Scouts and certainly those visiting from abroad, Baden Powell House is seen as the HQ of the Scouts. Yet apart from the statue of BP outside, it is most unwelcoming and shows very little evidence of Scouting. Inside on the floor plan, an exhibition is shown as being on the ground floor. This has long since gone with... More

As staff said, many people think that it is a museum, the Baden-Powell house is actually conference centre. But you will not be too disappointed since the staff will give you direction to the Baden-Powell museum while you can also buy some interesting merchandise

The pricing at Baden Powell House is very good for a London location. So easy to get anywhere on the tube with two near stations. The staff are helpful and friendly. I have stayed there three times now in shared rooms and can say that I found the shared room with an en suite to be less enjoyable. The bathroom... More

Stayed here as a family with 2 kids in a family room. Rooms are basic but functional and clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Never ate here so can't comment on that. Plenty of places to eat nearby. I thought it would be noisy at night but we weren't disturbed at all. View out of the window overlooking the natural history... More

Good hostel. Rooms were clean and staff were helpful. Food is okay but not a lot of choice. Toilet kept blocking and needed a bigger bin but apart from that it was good

If you need a place to sleep that's fairly reasonably priced, excellent communication nearby and lots of museums and shopping: yes, the Meininger hotel is a good choice. Renovations going on, we were lucky to get a newly renovated room. Breakfast: no. I'd eat elsewhere. Staff: kind but didn't really seem to know anything about the surroundings. Asking about breakfast... More

I like the badges, shirts and other souvenirs that you are able to buy from the reception. There are also some books and a hat about scouting. There is also a statues of Baden Powell, the inventor of scouts. But except that, there is nothing else that reflects scouting, which makes me feel bored about this place. There is also... More

Stayed here on my way to France and the place is mediocre. Breakfast is horrible and rooms are tiny but I only used my bed to sleep at night so I wasn't too bothered.

For a school residential it was safe and clean. The organisation of our dormitories wasn't very well thought through and we were split up along a long corridor. We had older very noisy teenagers beside us which kept our children awake. Some rooms had been refurbished and were great some a little tired. The food was diabolical - very little... More

Some of the worst customer service I received while here in London. The whole thing was disappointing. This could be a place to show case some history. If there was anything like that here the staff had no intention of being helpful. Only positive was the Natural History Museum was so close, the whole trip there was not totally ruined... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
