Top ways to experience Lincoln's Inn and nearby attractions

The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Holborn
Inner London’s busiest streets crisscross quiet cobbled lanes for an effect that can be urbane or quaint – or an intriguing blend of both – depending on the particular corner you turn. Due to its especially convenient location, bustling Holborn hosts an excellent range of hotels, eateries, and shops to suit practically any taste or budget. With major attractions like the British Museum and Somerset House as well as popular areas such as Covent Garden and Soho all just a short walk away, Holborn is a smart base from which to explore London.

In the courts. Lincoln's Inn is the biggest Inn and probably the most known! My visit here was very good, could spend more time walking around

Work here as a Solicitor's Cerk during 1980s, what a beautiful place. Happy memories in this enclave

This is one of the 4 surviving Inns of Court. I loved the beautiful red and off white building standing elegantly across the Lincoln’s Inn Field. In 1228 the official charter was granted by Henry III to establish this Court. This Inn has a long list of distinguished Alumni. These include Oliver Cromwell, Thomas More, William Gladstone, Founder of Pakistan M.A. Jinnah, Sir Muhammad Iqbal, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Azlan Shah, Tony Blair and Margaret Thatcher. My late father was also called to the Bar here. This is the largest Inn of Court. It has a very interesting side story. In the 18th century the unmarried mothers left their babies in the crypt of its church. Childless couples paid 5 shillings to adopt these children. Some years later it was decided that Lincoln’s Inn would raise these children. So each child was given the surname Lincoln. I specially took my children to see this place because it was my father’s and many Pakistani leaders’ alma-mater. I felt very emotional when the people there welcomed us so warm-heartedly.

Amazing, delightful, stunning, wonderful are words to describe this free part of London. I have worked in the West End for over 30 years and I didn't even knew that it existed. Until this week and its beautiful. Go to Middle Temple too and the Royal Courts of Justice.

I used to work nearby, but never got a chance to visit because the inn is really only open on weekdays.

The Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn, one of the four Inns of Court in London, the others being Gray's Inn, Middle Temple and Inner Temple. Widely considered to be one of the world's most prestigious professional bodies of judges and lawyers, at least in the UK. So you can expect to find some very fine buildings in the Inn. Incredible buildings include the Gate into Lincoln's Inn Fields, the chapel and the vaulted undercroft below it. Worth a wander if in the Holborn area, especially on a workday when you can see all the barristers at work in their silly wigs and gowns.

This is a beautiful historic building in a quiet corner of central London, mostly retaining it's original character. We were lucky to be able to have lunch in the magnificent Great Hall.

Visited partly because one of the scenes in a movie I watched was filmed here and it peaked my interest.
It's quite 'olden world' and very peaceful, especially if you visit on a weekday. I had almost the entire place to myself so I wandered between the buildings and chatted to a lovely gentleman in charge of the resident birds of prey.
There is a lot of renovation work going on at the moment so be warned that scaffolding does obstruct some of the views, but it's still a nice place to walk through and imagine you are back in the 1800s.

Very excited to dine here in a building built in 1490. Wow. Excellent atmosphere, palatial dining layout and the food wasn’t bad either. Thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience.
