It is the beginning of time! It is really cool to go to the Prime Meridian and to learn the history of how it became the spot that we base time on. We took a free tour and our guide was wonderful. Definitely worth a visit!

Beautiful clean park. Accomadates for everyone: families, joggers, dog walkers, picnics & historians. Has a children's playground, deer sanctuary, flower garden, tennis courts, Royal Observatory, Naval museum & small cafe. In summer they host outdoor cinema and a range of children's activities. Is a stone throw from the painted hall & chapel, Cutty Sark, restaurants, markets are pubs.

Greenwich park is serene, and peaceful. A place for all ages, and cultures to enjoy. Have a picnic or read a book. Climb the hill to the Royal Observatory, or visit the Royal Naval College. Nearby is the delightful village of Greenwich with interesting eating places and shops. The "Cutty Sir" is also a brilliant sightseeing venue. All within walking distance.... More

A perfect day-out with friends or family. It's a huge park and it has a very nice space for a pick-nick! You need a whole day to explore that side of London, once the surroundings are full of "hiding gems" to visit! Um dia de passeio perfeito para ir com a família ou amigos. É um parque enorme e tem... Greenwich Park is tranquil, beautiful and steeped in history, a must visit for anyone travelling to the area, especially if going to the O2; The Cutty Sark and the walkway under the River Thames from Greenwich to the Isle of Dogs is also worth doing

Huge park in Greenwich with plenty of paths for a leasurely stroll. In the old naval college the tourist can buy (50p) a map of a route leading you to viewpoints in and around the park.

Feels like a patch of countryside in the city. The views from the top are great, even on a grey day.

Staying in Greenwich

Neighbourhood Profile
Greenwich
Greenwich Mean Time starts here, so to speak, as the very concept of global time was established at Royal Observatory, just one of several buildings of architectural interest in Greenwich. Indeed, the whole of Greenwich's historic town center, its Royal Park and a number of related buildings (and one world famous ship, the Cutty Sark) make up the UNESCO World Heritage site known as Maritime Greenwich. Today a laser beam is shot out across the night sky from the Observatory to mark the location of the Prime Meridian. Other bold (some say brash) 21st century additions to the area include landmarks such as The O2 entertainment complex (previously known as the Millennium Dome) and the Air Line cable cars, which offer scenic transport across the Thames between North Greenwich and the Royal Docks.
