I booked for the West tour, so could browse about for free in the East cemetery. Most of the time I didn't see a soul and wandered about drinking in the peace and quiet. The West cemetery tour, wow, the tour guide John packed the visit with fascinating facts and figures, welcoming questions which he answered very fully. If you... More

The tour was well paced and intriguing with just the right amount of information and a story to take home and think about for everyone. The cemetery is strangely beautiful on its own but the Transylvanian tour guide (be sure to ask for him!) brings history (not the dead) back to life. His stories and direction is lucid, thoughtful and... More

I traveled from Thailand with my friend and I have to say the tour was amazing and interesting than we have expected. On the day of the tour, our tour guide is from Transylvania, he narrated all the information we needed with additional knowledge about the venue and people who are related to the cemetery. It's great experience that I... More

Highgate Cemetery has been on my list of things to do in London for years. I'm so pleased that I have finally had the pleasure of seeing this fascinating place. You have to book a tour to see the West Cemetery. I decided to do the East Cemetery where you can just turn up and pay the £4 entrance fee.... More

A peaceful haven to spend an hour or so. We travelled via bus from Russell square but on hindsight the tube would have been quicker. The lady on entrance was so friendly. Saw lots of significant and interesting resting places for some important people.

I never thought I would enjoy visiting cemetery that much!! There are west and east zones which I recommend you to buy the guided tour from West first then you can use the ticket to enter the East for free walk. The guide that I had really knew what he was talking about. He kept on entertaining our group and... More

What a wonderful tour! The cemetery is beautiful and the tour of the West Cemetery is so engaging. We had a tour guide from Transylvania and he was the best! I wish there was a self paced tour, or time for solo exploration afterwards, but I guess it would become unmanageable. Well worth the price of admission, and a great... More

The tour guide was perfect-gave just the right information at each point of interest and was patient with people taking photos. I learnt lots about Victorian symbols and it was a really enjoyable 70 minutes!

What a wonderful way to spend a Wednesday afternoon, in a graveyard. No really, this is a joy of a place, tranquil and beautiful in a gothic kind of way, and amazing to discover who lies there.

On Sundays you can tour the West Cemetery without booking ahead. Cost was 12 GBP and included a tour and entry to the East Cemetery too. If you want to go during the week you book ahead on their website. Our guide was super!! She knew so much and told things at a great pace. The monuments are hauntingly beautiful.... More
