Neighbourhood: Marylebone
Marylebone offers what so many London neighbourhoods cannot: a village feel coupled with urban convenience. Much of its success rests in its location. Wedged between the northeastern corner of Hyde Park and the southern end of Regent's Park and with a number of Tube stations within easy reach, Marylebone is as pedestrian friendly as Central London gets. The bustling shopping mecca of Oxford Street separates it from Soho and Mayfair, exclusive Regent Street marks its border with Fitzrovia, and cosmopolitan Edgware Road serves as its western edge. Within this enviably situated quarter are an array of outstanding restaurants (from Michelin darlings to down and dirty cheeseburgers), an impressive assortment of independently owned shops, and some of the city's quietest and most pleasant nooks, crannies and cobbled lanes.

Price tagged food goods that match the brands they sell upstairs
This is definitely a case of paying over the odds to look at something pretty… the dessert counter always looks amazing…. The truth is they leave you deflated, the loaf cakes are stodgy, and heavy, the filling isn’t great, very sweet and again heavy… the little gimmicks like mini jammy dodger biscuit, mini bourbon, mini brownies also leave a lot to be desired…. The cupcakes are very sweet too, to be honest, everything I’ve tried has been overwhelming sweet and I love my desserts! The best thing is the cheesecakes, these are ok but when you factor in the cost of each item, it’s definitely not worth the money… you can hunt for the bargains, usually old stock that’s due to go past the sell by date but you’re just asking for bad stale food, unfortunately even at those prices I find selfridges expensive…. If you like the look of things then knock yourself out, if it’s quality you value then I’d suggest going elsewhere….

    Wonderful Experience
This is a not to be missed experience. Not your same old, same old department store. A collection of high end and unique products from hand painted chocolates to custom jewelry. The wonderful collection of restaurants is worth a visit alone

Personal Shopping for Denim with Camilla - Fantastic!!!
Personal Shopping with Camilla in the Denim Department - what an absolute treasure she is!! Highly recommend this service, she took time to understand what we needed, made plenty of time for my friend and me, and was organised for our arrival. We felt no pressure to buy, but with all the beautiful options presented obviously we did. Jeans are so hard to find the right fit and Camilla was patient and honest, clearly knowing the different brands. It would have been completely overwhelming without her help and I would have walked out of the store without anything. Both my friend and I walked away with three pairs of jeans and a stack of other clothes. Yes it is expensive, but worth it.

    Beautiful store dressed for Christmas.
I hadn’t visited Selfridges for a number of years so I was looking forward to my visit. The Christmas shop in the basement had so many lovely items to decorate your house. Lots of room to navigate your way around. The first floor is beautifully laid out. The designer rooms are very spacious and you feel at ease to browse each area. And don’t forget the make-up on the ground floor.

    Love it!
Loved it! Everything about it felt old school department store but very modern. Love the DJ going up the escalators. My 11 year old daughter was in heaven! Very pricey obviously but just so fab to walk through and look at all the bits and bobs. Had our first Yo Sushi visit instore and will def go to another one when we see it. Very busy but didnt feel cramped.

The food looks marvellous but very expensive.
As I was in the West End I thought I would pay a visit. It was jam packed.I had a look at the meat counter and pheasants were around £8.95 compared with my online suppliers of £6.50 a brace. Some appetising fish but the price was par 100g unlike local fishmongers who do it per kilo, which gives you a better idea of cost. Pomellos which are around £3 locally, were over £6 here.So I came away with nothing.

Amazing food hall but inattentive staff
I love the food hall! I love the patisseries and they are always so delicious! However, I bought 5 desserts and after I got home, about 2 hours later, only 4 were in the box. Quite annoying considering they are quite expensive, despite the missing item was the cheapest. For a high end department store you expect better and it wasn't even busy. Next time I will be more attentive and check my bag before leaving but that shouldn't be my job!

Complete surprise Jonathan on BDK your a star 🌟
I totally stopped shopping in Selfridges, simply because The customer services from their Staff had dropped so dramatically over the years. Their staff don’t seem to care for their customers and don’t seem to have the time or the knowledge as they use to. So I said to myself, I’m never going back. But then i wanted to buy a fragrance from BDK so I thought I will risk it. To my complete surprise as soon as i got to the fragrance counter I was served by a member of staff called Jonathan. What a complete star he was. He wasn’t only attentive he was funny. He had great product knowledge. Gave Customer service that I haven’t seen in years I couldn’t praise him enough, I could literally go on and on about how wonderful his service was it was literally what you would expect from a high-end store that you never get from any other Selfridges staff totally change my mind about shopping in Selfridge’s. if this is the way there Staffing is going then I will be back shopping as a regularly as I did in the past. Keep up the good work and I hope you treat this guy well because he will be headhunted in a matter of days. You just do not get that kind of service any more. Well done. Jonathan well done Selfridges.

    MORPHE HAS THE BEST STAFF
Ahhh! I had the best experience ever. I was coming straight from work and I was looking at so many different make up sections until I stumbled upon Morphe. The lovely Manish was working and he gave me the most caring experience, even as he was still attentive to others and doing 7 things at once! I was looking at a couple of products and he knew exactly what suited me instantly. He also tried a whole routine on my face, which has boosted my confidence with make up much more. By the end of it i bought everything he put on my face. As it was just the best! I was so so happy and fufilled. He made the experience go so smoothly. At the check out I also had an amazing discussion with Sinem, who also took some time to explain some things that i needed. 11 STARS OUT OF 10 for the entire experience! Please, if it’s possible, give these guys a bonus/ raise as they were so enthusiastic the entire time and immensely helpful. (Sorry this took so long as i came in a week ago)

Unpleasant experience at some of the stalls in the perfume section.

Went over to Aqua di Parma and was served by a lady who seemed really bored, which sure whatever, working in retail must be a nightmare. I was however quite offended when I asked to buy a particular sized bottle that she said she had to get from the stock room for me and kept asking me “are you sure? I’m getting it out of the stock just for you you know?” I’m sorry, why else would I ask you for it?

Walked over to Bottega while waiting for her to return with my item and stood there waiting to be served so I could ask about the fragrances and try some on. Staff made eye contact with me several times and continued chatting away among themselves.

Did notice the AdP lady return and almost exasperate when I wasn’t right in front of her section (I was just 2 steps adjacent to it), I’m assuming she assumed I had run off. Odd assumption to make, no matter what biases you might form about a customer.

I will say the Ormond Jayne staff were lovely but the rest of the experience left such a distaste for me. I feel icked whenever I think about returning to Selfridges to look for something rather than go directly to the brand boutiques now, but unfortunately it’s one of the handful of places I can try multiple brands conveniently at once.

I would like to share my recent experiences with Selfridges' online shopping service. Unfortunately, I have encountered significant issues with their return process. On multiple occasions, I returned items immediately after receiving them, only to have my refund requests denied due to alleged damages identified by their brand specialists.

This pattern of rejecting returns based on claims of customer-inflicted damage is deeply concerning and has led me to question the integrity of their operations. These experiences have been frustrating and disappointing, akin to the issues I have faced with The Webster in the US.

Given these repeated incidents, I can no longer recommend shopping with Selfridges online. I will only consider shopping in-store to avoid such complications in the future.

Thomas at the Fendi stand was incredibly helpful. Friendly, polite and very knowledgeable. It made choosing a new bag a genuine pleasure and was a great experience. Keep up the fine work Thomas.

BEWARE! SELFRIDGES ONLINE SHOPPING SCAM. EMPTY BOX SENT VIA DPD. NO REFUND!

By the time people read these reviews it is too late. DO NOT BUY FROM SELFRIDGES ONLINE. If you have it is too late and you've been scammed!!!
These fraudsters need to be stopped!!!.
Customer services are all trained to charm, decieve and manipulate. You will get trapped into their web of lies and promises which will lead you to exhaustion.
I ordered an expensive beauty product and instead received a damaged, opened and empty cardboard box delivered by DPD.
I immediatley sent Selfridges photo evidence including CCTV footage of the courier clearly holding the opened parcel prior to handing it to me.
Selfridges agreed that my parcel was tampered with and seemed empathetic and wanted to help me get my refund.
They asked me to send images to pass onto courier company to show evidence.
The next day I was sent an email from Selfridges saying "We can confirm that after reviewing all available information and completing our investigation, the item was correctly packed into the order and sealed correctly before delivery was made to your address.
Delivery has also been made successfully with no noted damage on receipt from the courier. For this reason we are unable to process a refund".
I contacted DPD to find out why on earth my refund was denied after sending clear evidence showing my parcel was damaged on CCTV and in photos.
DPD explained that Selfridges had not opened up a claim on my behalf and sent over any of my images to them, so there was no investigation that took place.
I was so shocked to hear this and contacted Selfridges again. I spoke with numerous agents regarding this and they all made excuses about how images could not be downloaded because their systems block them.
After 2 weeks of multiple calls each day, Selfridges continued promising to send my images but never did. Each day DPD confirmed Selfridges had not been in touch.
DPD instructed me "Tell Selfridges to contact us and open up a claim on your behalf and send images otherwise we cannot investigate your case".
I repeatedly told them I had done this 3x a day everyday for 2 weeks.
I had the same fake templated emails from selfridges denying my refunds: "We can confirm that after reviewing all available information and completing our investigation, the item was correctly packed into the order and sealed correctly before delivery was made to your address. Delivery has also been made successfully with no noted damage on receipt from the courier. For this reason we are unable to process a refund".
This was contradicting informaton with DPD, because apparently Selfridges had not even sent over my images, so a claim was not raised.
Selfridges were clearly lying to me and sending their standard email templates that they use with all customers to deny them of refunds. They are con artists and thieves.
I tried posting a letter to Selfridges Head manager, talking to DPD with App chat and whatapp and still no resolution. I get agents constantly hanging up on me or ending our virtual chats when they don't like me questioning my refund or my photo evidence. There is constant avoidance from both Selfridges and DPD.
As for my missing product... The courier could have stolen it knowing there is no follow through from Selfridges, since the retail company won't ever contact the courier company with my photo evidence.
Or, Selfridges may not have even packaged my product in the first place. They could have purposely opened and damaged it to shift blame, knowing their policy on their website states they do not refund for lost / damaged parcels.
That's quids in for them, a product to keep and re-sell in store and leave me with an expensive empty cardboard box.
The only way for refund is via the courier company, in which they set out to make never happen. Us, as customers cannot ever make the claim ourselves, it has to be done by the retailer. How convenient!
Selfridges lie to us saying they've sent our evidence, when in fact they hadn't. We recieve fake investigation emails from DPD that are not legit, because DPD never recieved our photo evidence.
This is a win-win situation for both DPD and Selfridges. DPD don't need to pay out any compensation, and Selfridges repeteadly get away robbing us time and time again.
This also works when customers want to make a return of an item. Selfridges insist they use DPD. They then pretend they recieve an empty box and deny customers a refund. They can then re-sell the returned product that was apparently missing.
Selfridges is not a premium store that many of us might think, it is warehouse stocking expensive goods, displayed in a posh store as a front to portray luxury, but run by criminals, operating in a fraudulent way.
Don't be tempted to buy anything from these crooks. You will be yet another victim of these Selfridges scams!!!

I’m 15 years old and a frequent visitor in the fragrance hall, I understand being so young that some people don’t take you seriously but I’ve been there loads and no one had a problem, until today I went solely for the purpose of smelling the bond section, I avoided asking for tester strips as the guy seemed annoyed, I asked for 2 fragrances to be sprayed on strip very politely and he seemed very annoyed at that, I asked for one more which is only 3!!! He then said in an obnoxious tone “I cant show you the whole brand, You are not allowed to smell any more!” Shocked I simply said sorry and left, I knew that bond have low amounts of testers but to refuse to spray a FULL bottle is very rude, he humiliated me in front of his colleague’s. he treated me like if I didn't know what I was doing, but I came to PURCHASE something!!! So put off I didn’t buy anything! Bad service and lost a customer

I just wanted to walk around and look at everything, I didn’t want to shop but I wanted to see Selfridges, because I followed the story of Harry Selfridge and enjoyed the Masterpiece Series on his life. Just so happened we were walking on Oxford Street!

How could I not stop in and marvel in the commercial luxury despite me not wanting to do anything but try and find my Penhaligon's scent that has been discontinued, eat cake in the tea shop because you can’t take it to go, and roam around the food court that is part international market, restaurant and grocery store!

They have every luxury here folks, a designer shopper's dreams come true, I enjoyed watching all that money being spent on things that I currently can’t afford by elegant women and handsome good smelling men! I will return to Selfridges on my next trip to London and spend the day sampling many of the delicious bites I saw in the food court and take pictures of everything!

How about you?

My daughter had been looking for a shop that sold Jordan 4’s. We came to Selfridges as a last resort on our trip for specific shoes that came out that same day. And a lovely shopping assistant named Vee helped us find the last pair of the exact shoes we were looking for. She made my daughters whole week just by checking in the back even though she thought they were all sold out. Safe to say that every customer matters to them. Thank you for going above and beyond Vee, we really appreciate it. ❤️❤️

This is a lovely department store. High end so there was lots of interesting menswear I couldn't really afford. It didn't hurt to window shop, though. Apparently the women's area was the same.

I did spent a lot of time in the bookshop area where they have some great titles. And I bought a beautiful piece of unusual china as a present. Expensive but not something I've seen anywhere else.

Always worth a visit.

I went into Christian Louboutin today and received some of the worst retail customer service I've ever had. The staff members went out of their way to not serve me or be available to assist me, as soon as I entered the store the 3 staff members at the entrance scattered and the female staff member with long black hair and red lipstick seemed extremely annoyed by my presence and walked off in a huff, along with a male staff member with twisted locs and another tall thin male staff member. I did not stay in the store for long, as I have no interest in spending my money where I am not welcome. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour.
