Russel Square is relatively small compared to Londons big parks bit there's enough space for people to sit around and enjoy the sun. Due to its location it never gets too noisy. It's clean enough to lay around and read/eat during lunchtime.

Another of West London's open spaces, immaculately kept and attractive despite the early Spring lack of colour. It'll be as magnificent as always in a few weeks' time and right through the summer and autumn. A lovely area just to walk through or linger, rest and do some serious people watching. The Café Russell is a good sized facility for... More

Russell Square is trimmed and clean but never quite big enough to let you feel like you've abandoned the city altogether. Nonetheless, it makes a welcome respite. However, nestled in the NE corner of the park is the hidden gem of Caffe Russell with its homemade comfort food and baristas, this one time greasy spoon has raised its game without... More

Really pleased we went in. We live in the eastern suburbs of London and usually find that places in west London are over priced and what is on offer is not to our liking. Cafe Russell is the exact opposite, something for everyone and reasonably priced. The owner even knocked money off the price of the set meal because we... More

Lovely petite park in the middle of the city. Great for kids and nearby to some very nice places of interest. The attractive water feature in the centre and the peaceful greenery makes this square an impeccable place to read a book in one of the park bench. Good place to have a sandwich in the summer. Not far from... More

Lovely, well maintained and litter free park near to the British Museum and local tube station . Great little cafe on the edge of the park, with a good selection of pastries, cakes and excellent Italian coffee. Very well kept toilets for customers. Great place to relax and watch the world go by. Well worth a lingering visit.

The square is well maintained all year round and a relaxing place to visit for all the family. A large number of benches will mean you can always find a place to sit down in winter and there is a hub of activity going on. Very close to the tube station and served by many buses too.

Near the British Museum, this is a small park in which it's pleasant to sit. Pretty small and can get quite busy due to its proximity to the aforementioned attraction and a long list of university faculties.

Just outside the NE corner . One of the few remaining in the city. Arrive before noon as they run out of eggs which make tasty if messy sandwiches. On a spring-like day, the square is humming.

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighbourhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
