About
Far beneath the majesty and splendor of the Paris Opera House, hides the Phantom in a shadowy existence. Shamed by his physical appearance and feared by all, the love he holds for his beautiful protegee Christine Daae is so strong that even her heart cannot resist. The musical opened at Her Majesty's Theatre on 9 October 1986 with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in the leading roles, and there have been dozens of productions worldwide since then. Now in its 26th record-breaking year, The Phantom of the Opera continues to captivate audiences at Her Majesty's Theatre in London's West End, after more than 10,000 performances. Andrew Lloyd Webber's mesmerizing score along with jaw-dropping scenery and breathtaking special effects, magically combine to bring this tragic love story to life each night.

Neighbourhood: St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.

    Unforgettable!
    I’m a huge admirer of this show and a story behind it. I saw it in NYC 9-10 times and this was my first time in London. It was October 9, His Majesty theatre. Very good acoustics, pure voices, pure energy, friendly helpful staff. And there was a bonus! It was a 37th birthday of this show and we all were singing “ happy birthday dear phantom”. Unforgettable experience!

    15 Years later... Finally. Amazing!
    I don't have a bucket list - but this is the only thing I've wanted to do for a LONG time. Having watched the movie and falling in love with the story, I've always wanted to come to London and watch this show, which started before I was even born. We booked a box, it was between that and the most expensive tickets, have to say we were not disappointed. Including a bottle of champagne (which was lovely), snacks, free program and letter. The view is slightly restricted, although this gives us notice whilst booking so we were fully aware. For the cost, with everything that's included, it's definitely worth the price. On arrival to the theatre we were asked to wait to be taken by a red jacket to our box (Box2). (Sean/Shawn (apologies, I did not catch the spelling of your name), thank you, so much! You were absolutely fabulous and amazing). I have social anxiety that I don't really declare to everyone I meet, so interacting with people in certain situations is uncomfortable, however, he was attentive but not intrusive, friendly and professional, and bless his heart for coming to check on us twice while we had stepped outside for a smoke during the interval. Absolutely amazing gentleman and hopefully a well valued member of staff. As for the show - was not disappointed in the slightest, amazing performance, absolutely blown away and well worth coming. I sincerely hope they do reopen the show at some point, as we would love to come again.

    Spectacular
    Visited The Phantom of the Opera show tonight, I purchased as a gift for my wife’s birthday as she is a fan of the theatre. My first ever experience of Londons West End and I must say, I was truly blown away by the spectacle that was on offer. The theatre itself is absolutely stunning, the staff extremely helpful and professional. As for the show itself, I can honestly say it was spectacular, 10 out of 10 from the performers, the set designs and costumes are incredible. Myself and my wife were captivated from start to finish. All in all a truly wonderful experience.

    The best theatre show I have ever seen
    This show was amazing. The staff on the booking line were great too. The acting, props, dancing and singing was very well done. Also the props and costumes were outstanding They had this show down to a T and told the story very well. It was such a good experience I would go back. The staff were friendly and the venue was beautiful, plenty of historic memories for the his majesty’s theatre. It’s also located in a very nice part of London. Thank you for an amazing experience and I hope to come again. :))

    You really want to go! Trust me!
    There is a reason this show has been full for most performances since the 80s! It's my favourite ever! The music is obviously extraordinary. The stage is breathtaking! The costumes are exquisite! And, on a more practical level, the seats are comfortable and the view is good. Every needs to do see this!

    Amazing experience, loved it!!! :)
    It was a really amazing and totally enjoyable experience! The singing, the costumes, and the sets, with a few amazing surprises during the show made it a very special occasion indeed. My son and I had seating in the stalls that were comfortable with a great view! A very happy, special occasion, theatre-goer! :)

    Amazing experience
    I loved the shows. It was amazing and breath taking. The actors and everything was really great. The view was good . The only small disappointment was seeing people dressed in jeans or even tracksuit. I dont think this should be allowed in Theater people should dress nicely.

    Fantastic performance on what was meant to be closing night, 2nd March, thank goodness this wonderful show goes on. This was a GREAT performance, the cast, including lead Jon Robyns, gave it their all and they RICHLY deserved the cheers ad standing ovation. A night to remember. Perfect.

There is a reason why The Phantom of The Opera is still going strong with sold out shows. The production values, the music, the acting, the atmosphere, the energy, I could go on. It deserves to be seen at least once.I have seen it three times now and plan on seeing it a few more times

Although my wife thoroughly enjoyed it I personally found it just too loud. My feelings were the voices were over amplified and the actors were forcing their voices to be loud. The orchestra were loud. I reckon I could hear about 50% of the words. On the other hand the sets and effects were mind boggling fantastic.
In the Royal Circle and leg room not generous.

We were a group of 4 and only 2 of us have seen the movie and we were actually struggling to understand what is going on. The falling of the chandelier that it’s the main point of the movie it’s being rushed. It happens out of nowhere for no reason at all in the middle of the play and the moment the chandelier falls it goes straight to break after the the break there is no reference to it whatsoever. There fore no one knows what is happening. If you are seating In the grand central like we did( apart from the first row) you will not see at least 60% of the pleat. It’s so confusing, at times super boring due to the fact you don’t see anything and super expensive for what you get. There were times people were just standing up just catch a glimpse f what is going on at the stage.

Very upsetting for the price you pay.

Firstly the show itself is great. The music is exactly what you expect and the songs wonderful. Holly Hull is a brilliant Christine. Some of the effects are a little dated (The Phantom's fire stick!) but that aside it was great to see the show and we enjoyed it throughly.

The theatre and experience however is something else. The facilities in the theatre are very dated. Seating is poor (We paid £70 each for 4 seats in the Grand Circle) and the seats are cramped. Third row in the centre of the Grand Circle isn't the best view and some of the stage is obstructed. For some seats it notes a restricted view when booking, but this was not the case for the ones we purchased.

I understand this is an old theatre, but it is desperately in need of a revamp in a similar manner to the Victoria Theatre has been reimagined for Hamilton. I understand the last couple of years have been difficult, but there have been good times in the past, and some money should have been spent on the audience experience.

I can only speak for the show we were at, but we were cramped in together with a chorus of coughing (by the audience) throughout. Although advised, mask wearing was not universal and we felt uncomfortable at this current time when we are still not over the pandemic.

Went to see Phantom last week and the show is simply brilliant the cast the singing acting stage show absolutely brilliant. The seats we were at were the balcony to the left right at the end, so a lot of peering over the edge to see what was going on. So pity the people behind us. As there is a lot of the act on going to the left front corner so would be a bit disadvantaged there. It didn't spoil it for us but would not pick those seats again.

I have been a fan of the music in this show for decades. Lots of bands I like have covered songs and I know them by heart.

However, the show was shocking. The dialogue was poorly done. They were trying to talk sing and couldn't enunciate correctly so often times it was gibberish.

The singers were really disappointing. I am a fan of opera and these were the worst I have heard, other than the ones on talent shows.

The woman who played Christine conveyed no emotion and seemed to be over acting to compensate. She was really pitchy and shrill.

The Phantom had the weakest voice of all. He was also shorter than the women so you couldn't believe he was a threat.

The costumes and set were great, but for a rock opera it was horrific music wise.

Sitting in the front row allowed me to hear what I would describe as a 'cat fight' instead of harmonies.

The only thing that kept me awake was the pyrotechnics.

It is outrageously expensive for how poor it was. Also the memorabilia was hilariously expensive. £275 for a key ring.

Lloyd Webber needs to recast this ASAP.

~~~~~~
Go see Wicked or pay for a holiday. Don't see this show.
My husband and I have seen Phantom many times in London and in other locations too such as Broadway and so we knew what we were getting in terms of a show. I have lost count of how many times we have visited Her Majesty’s for the show.
This time we decided to treat ourselves and book a box, these are a relatively new option and come with lots of extras which really made it worth the money although it was not really any more expensive than stalls seats we have had in the past and they were without the extras. Upon arrival we were met outside the theatre by a ‘red coat’ who was our usher for the evening, he showed us in and took us to our box (AA) which we were told was the royal box. Inside we had a bottle of champagne waiting for us, a show programme, some savoury snacks, a letter from the Opera Ghost (with a wax seal of course!) and we were asked what ice cream we’d like in the interval. At the interval we were shown to the Royal Room where we had ice creams waiting for us and a bathroom with exclusive use so no queues. The box was very large compared to other theatre boxes I’ve sat in and very comfortable.
The show itself was amazing, as always. We did get the third Christine as both the first and second were off but she was fantastic as were all the cast last night. The box experience is very different from any other seat as you can see directly into the orchestra pit and slightly behind the scenes too. You are almost within touching distance of the stage and with the performers at times which is great for seeing detail but it is a side view and so for some scenes you lose a little bit of the action of it’s happening on the side you’re on or at the rear of the stage. If you want to immerse yourself in the show then the box is perhaps not the best seat as it’s easy to be distracted by the orchestra pit or the side view of the performers off stage but for us who have seen the show so many times before it was utterly perfect and the next time we visit London we will be choosing the same experience again!
I had goosebumps during the beginning scenes, it was so dramatic and by the end I was nearly in tears. It was amazing!
The quality of the sound and the costumes make this a brilliant show. I was in seat J20 and had a great view.
When I arrived, my phone was out of charge and the manager arranged to charge it for me (thank you).
2 soft drinks and toffee popcorn at the interval was £11 (reasonable for a show). Do get dressed up (adds to the experience). I’ve seen Hamilton/Matilda/Six and I would say it’s just as good as those. Listen to the music before you go, so it’s familiar; I think it adds to the enjoyment.
Andrew Lloyd Webber - you have created something so wonderful and amazing in this show and it clearly gives people so much enjoyment. All the audience was standing and applauding at the end. Thank you for this experience.
Excellent performance, after seeing it so many times it never ceases to amaze me how great this show is time and time again. The vocals were great, performance overall was excellent and such a stunning theatre. I would not recommend the VIP experience, it was a bit weak, the red coats didn’t really do what they said was included, the snacks kinda sucked and well it would have just been cheaper to buy a few drinks and an ice cream at intermission without the VIP. It was awkward sitting in the bar at a reserved table alone, and people just crowded the table anyways so wasn’t really an experience
I have always wanted to watch the Phantom - was always put off by the cost. Decided to go alone after work. Had a great time. Originally bought cheapest tickets possible but was upgraded (this was a Tuesday) and was at a perfect distance to the stage - not too far and not too close to get scared (face it, the Production us great and it can be quite alarming as there’s fire, stuff falling from the ceiling, the works!) Really liked the actors too
