Neighbourhood: Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.

Amazing visual experience. The Shard is perfectly placed to gain 360 degree views on London. I was able to see a city transformed since I first worked there in the late 80s. We were able to listen to a brief talk on the tower on Level 72. The speaker was entertaining and informed.

    Birthday Treat
Booked for a birthday treat for my partner, had a lovely time.great views of London. A little bit like the spinnaker tower in portsmouth although on a larger scale. We enjoyed our day out here. 😀

    Spectacular view of London
A major tourist draw, and for good reason. The views are simply spectacular-- if I had to choose between the Shard and the London Eye, the Shard would win, hands down. Book ahead online and I'd recommend getting there right at opening.

Worth the visit for the amazing views!
My cousin and I had a great time enjoying the view from the Shard - maybe me more than my cousin, as she has a bit of vertigo! It wasn't very busy when we were there (a Thurs afternoon) so we pretty much walked right up and had plenty of room on the viewing platform. The first floor we got off on didn't have much for seating except for reserved tables. We tried to sit at one to rest our legs as we both have some mobility issues, and were (politely) told that we couldn't sit there. We did find a bench to rest on a bit on the other viewing floor. The staff were all very friendly and the views were simply amazing!

We visited here as part of the London Pass. You still need to book a timed slot though. The line was huge, even for pre booked tickets. We chose to pay an additional fee to jump the queue. Then were taken straight to the entry. You go through airport style security, then ascend to the top very quickly. The first level is enclosed and has beautiful views in all directions. You can walk up one more level to a partially open level. It was cold, windy and rainy. But still stunning. You can buy drinks and food if you want. Don’t miss the toilets, they have views too.

Afternoon Tea at The Ting, The Shard
Our table had a chip out of the corner and the seat my daughter sat in had a tear, where I rested my arm on the table was sticky (it's the Shard we expected better). When we arrived our waiter made a big deal of how many types of tea they had 150 and then promptly chose for us blah and blah and walked away which happened again later but we jumped in and chose our own. The sandwiches were nice and the small pate heart, the ratatouille roll not so much. The scones however were delicious and we were offered more (they are tiny). The service was okay but not great (again you expect better in The Shard) twice we asked for things that we waited much longer for than we should have. I have rated this average because my expectations were high, we were very excited and it didn't quite deliver.

    Must see!
Excellent views of London. We booked a late afternoon time slot of the shard, to view the city in the and at night. All areas are incredibly clean and staff dressed very smartly. Even the toilets are worth stop as you see the view of the city whilst on the loo. There is a bar and gift shop. Definitely recommend

London from its height is an amazing experience!
Visiting The Shard and observing London from its height is an amazing experience! You get a panoramic view of London’s layout, landmarks, and architecture. It provides a unique perspective for photography and appreciation of the city's scale. Additionally, it offers a sense of tranquility and detachment from the bustling city life below. Highly recommend!

    Worth it!
Weren’t sure what to expect but were really impressed! The views did not disappoint and if you ask one of their experts (check the name tags) you find out fantastic information about the buildings what you see. Chris, the London Expert, who spoke with us, told us more about secret alleyways, historical pubs, free art and local history than any website or instagram account did!

Thank you for honouring our tickets
Big thank you to the Shard. We had tickets booked in 2017 when the london bridge attacks happened. And the Shard team have honoured the tickets from then. It was so worth the wait, we had amazing weather and literally see for miles!!! We didn't do anything else apart from the viewing platform, spent a good half an hour looking at landmarks. Taking pictures etc. The lift was awesome!! So fast!! Wouldn't do it again, as think it's very expensive for what it is...hence 4*.

I booked a marriage proposal for the view at the shard and our experience was beyond expectations. Sophie and her team were absolute professionals and assisted us having us a wonderful experience. Everything was so well organised and gave us a splendid gevening. Sophie's skills in communication and management are thriving. The photographer was a skillful artist who made us feel very comfortable and created a memorable album. The rest of the team were discreet and polite that contributed in a romantic night with the wonderful view from the shard. Well done to everyone

We have visited the shard before but it was evening so the views were limited. This time it was a beautiful day and we could see far out into the outskirts of London. We also took the time to enjoy the free history of the Shard with the guide. It's great it is free but on top of this he was funny, entertaing and knowledable

Definitely a must visit place. Pricey but we were given vouchers.

Pros
V well organised - lifts, queues, security
Good views from both decks

Cons
By 730pm a lot of the internal windows had fingerprints over them so not as easy taking photos.
Told our guidebook (part of our package) was in shop at the end . Got there to find they'd run out but to be fair v they offered an alternative book.
No info (audio or visual) to help identify buildings

Tip to visitors
If you can go before sunset, you will get the best of both worlds seeing London day & night.
I overheard one visitor say she was terrified on the (much lower) London Eye but was very happy to go up The Shard

Tip to management
Clean internal windows regularly during the day.
Ensure there is either staff explaining the views or display boards showing what is on view from each side.
Visit the Empire State and see if you can do something similar in the lift....!
Display prices of ice creams. We didn't buy as had no idea on price but saw the price of the cocktails!

Would we visit again? This is a one off place so no. However I am keen to have a meal further down the shard.

We were going from London Eye to the shard for a 6:15pm booking. It was stated on the website that you can be late up to 15 minutes. For some reason, my carrier plan I bought online doesn’t have any service so I was not able to use the map. I used the free WiFi London eye provided and made my way to the 384 bus station. And as internet lost, I can’t find out which bus stop I need to get off at and I can’t find another way of transportation to get there. I was having plenty of time and the map even show the bus is early, but after it passed the arriving time, bus still didn’t show up. While waiting frustratedly, a man riding a motorcycle rode past by me and tried to grab my phone. But he failed and my phone dropped. And at that point, I’m already given up because time has been wasted for at least twenty minutes so I started walking toward the Shard’s direction. Until I passed the subway station, there’s free WiFi connected again so I managed to get on the subway but be late for about 10minutes.
My mom started queuing up for the line as I went to the front to ask if there’s separate lines for different time. (The waiting line is confusing, they separate the line into two section, one on left one on right, and there’s another empty line up section in front of the building. So I was told to go to the very back just wait there (end of the left hand side lane). And I saw two ladies walked to another female Indian staff there saying their booking is 6:45pm and where to go. That female Indian staff told them to wait there and she would go ask the others and after she went asking the staff in front, she let them go straight to the right lane that is heading in. So I asked that female Indian staff is they are 6:45pm and I’m 6:15pm can I go in this line too. And she said no and asked me to queue up in the very end. We both felt being treated differently, so when we started waiting on the right lane, my mom asked that female Indian staff why she let the two ladies who have 6:45pm booking time go in first but not us, why she treating us differently. And she said because we are late so we are supposed to wait while other people are all here early than their booking time and she asked the people in front of us to show their booking which is 6:45pm, while at that time it’s only around 6:30pm. So why can’t we go in earlier than the 6:45pm people when it’s not even 6:45’s entry time yet. And even if we need to wait, why would she let the two other 6:45pm ladies to go in first while other 6:45pm are waiting in the left lane. She’s not treating us differently, she’s treating every other 6:45pm entry time people differently. While my mom and the female Indian staff were talking, a male staff suddenly came up (looked like a guard) and told us to come out of the line and talk. And they looked like they want to fight and we are the bad people and they want to arrest us. I said I don’t want to waste more time I just want to go in and that male guard said whatever then. Their attitudes really disappointed us. When we were about to get down, my mom had a question about where the water would go if it’s rained and if the four corners around were designed to poor the water out. So we asked a male staff up there and we talked about a lot such as there were people climbing up the Shard so they took out the handle for safety issues, we also talked about we came from the United States and discrimination we experienced the day before in London, and it eventually led to the things that just happened at the Shard. I don’t know if people working in London hate Asian faces or what. We told him the story and later found out that he is the facility manager and would like to solve this issue. His name is Krishna. He’s super super nice. He offered us two free soft drinks and discounts on gift shops, he even gave us a free bag and two cups. He wanted us to leave the Shard with a positive impression which I did in the end due to his kindness and his willingness to help this issue. He told us we can write the review here since the Shard looked at the review every week. I still recommend coming here to see the fantastic views and Krishna is always here to help out if there’s anything happened.

Well worth a visit, well organised and great views from the viewing platforms. Very helpful, knowledgeable staff. Bar expensive. You can stay as long as you like although once you’re walked around and had a chat then you’re done. Visit you could leave and return for free in the evening would be great to see in the dark too.
