Good place to have a look at good quality handicraft work. Most items have a price in ££££££. We had only been inside for a few minutes when there was a fire alarm and we had to evacuate the building. As we stood outside wondering...More

Japan House is one of my favourite places to visit in Kensington and I will make a detour to South Kensington station, which is nearby, to make a visit to the latest exhibition, which are always well-designed, stimulating and sometimes even quite spiritual. The current...More

I went to visit Japan house with my teenager son. The place is beautiful, showing different aspects of Japanese culture: food, design, tools, technology. The exhibition that was on show was very interesting: "Prototyping in Tokyo": technology that mimics human and animal movements. I am...More

We only learned about Japan House from an ad for the "Subtle" exhibition currently showing there - and what a joy our visit turned out to be! The venue is calm and minimalistic, the objects on display are exquisite (and eye-wateringly expensive!!!), and the staff...More

South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque
white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's
easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with
superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and
Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely
child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to
mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall)
such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming
