Top ways to experience Marylebone Station and nearby attractions

The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Marylebone
Marylebone offers what so many London neighbourhoods cannot: a village feel coupled with urban convenience. Much of its success rests in its location. Wedged between the northeastern corner of Hyde Park and the southern end of Regent's Park and with a number of Tube stations within easy reach, Marylebone is as pedestrian friendly as Central London gets. The bustling shopping mecca of Oxford Street separates it from Soho and Mayfair, exclusive Regent Street marks its border with Fitzrovia, and cosmopolitan Edgware Road serves as its western edge. Within this enviably situated quarter are an array of outstanding restaurants (from Michelin darlings to down and dirty cheeseburgers), an impressive assortment of independently owned shops, and some of the city's quietest and most pleasant nooks, crannies and cobbled lanes.
How to get there
  • Marylebone • 3 min walk

A dinky, easy to use railway station. Bars, coffee, cakes, clothing , cards, books & magazines. Everything you need in a compact clean & very easy to navigate railway station. Oh & don’t forget there is a ticket office staffed by helpful human staff

Had the most bizarre experience in having to calm down a gross misconduct of a staff member’s outburst at the barriers. Advance ticket wasn’t working and he refused to give the time to explain, raising his voice & coercing me to pay the penalty (which of course I did once I understood why my advance ticket wasn’t working and made the proper documentation). I had to calmly reassure him I’ve said nothing to provoke him, even his colleague was dumbfounded.

He refused to share his badge and employee id he was wearing and only said his name was ‘sunny’, all for me to go by to file an official complaint. Avoid this station/ Chiltern lest you bump into this shell of a human.

May 2023 • Family
We were a family of 4 adults and one child traveling from Oxford to Marylebone station with tickets we bought online.
When we arrived at the station, and we needed to tap out, we were told that we could not go out together. This was understandable but due to some glitch, the 2nd passenger ticket did not want to download from the Split my fare email to my wallet on my phone.
( I am addressing this with that company also)
Instead the security guard at the turnstile was aggressive and rude in front of my family which also had a young child who got very stressed and anxious by the behaviour we were exposed to.
Instead of being helpful with us obtaining the 2nd ticket, he made us feel that we wanted to be dishonest.
Luckily I did not buy a return ticket and will be going back to Oxford via bus.
This incident put me off from looking around the station which had a lot to offer I am sure.

The incident was publicly humiliating to say the least.

What a lovely station. I travelled from there to Birmingham. I usually use London Euston station, but cheaper trips were being offered that day from Marylebone. I didn't know how nice and relatively quiet the station is compared to the hustle and bustle of Euston. Marylebone is also an architecturally-pleasant building, unlike Euston.

One of the smaller old stations. Enough for the traveller inside and great location to get into London. Always clean and tidy

This is a beautiful train station lovely architecture. It’s a nice small station so not as busy as some of the larger ones in London. There are plenty of seats and little food shops for you if you need them. Staff are friendly.

Finally visited today arriving by train from Stratford-Upon-Avon.
An unassuming station that serves West of London & Birmingham.
Nice and uncrossed, efficient station.

Marylebone station is a bit of a cinderella station. There are services to Birmingham from here but they are not as quick so are a little cheaper. You would probably go from Euston instead. There are also services to Oxford but there are quicker services from Paddington.

I would still suggest checking out this station as it has some beautiful architecture. There are plenty of shops to check out the the station is connected to the Underground with trains running to the West End, Elephant and Castle, Queens Park and Harrow & Wealdstone.

Worth checking out for the railway history and some good train deals.

Best station in London by a country mile! Staff are polite and mostly helpful with a few exceptions. It’s always clean and tidy with good food options.

Shocking customer service.. arrogant staff unwilling to help
Never dealt with such unhelpful people in my life.. an elderly gentleman who worked for the station was on a power trip...clearly lacking on social and customer service skills
They need to focus on recruiting staff willing to support customers having a difficult time...not all disabilities are visible..
