England's First Mosque! What an amazing history - Sheikh Abdullah Quilliam. Prayer room has been restored and is fully functional for the five daily prayers and Jummah salat. Doing some great restoration work, preserving Islamic history in the UK.

Visited this mosque on "Visit My Mosque Day" on 17 February with my Dad and it's absolutely fascinating. Steeped in history, it was the first mosque in England, having been built in 1887 by Sheikh Abdullah Quilliam, a Liverpool solicitor and an English convert to...More

From the outside it doesn't look like a Mosque, but the interior is beautiful, currently being refurbished, but the main prayer area is nicely decorated, with a dedicated area for females to pray,

I attended the opening for this mosque today. It first opened 110 years ago and was derelict for many years until being recently refurbished. It is a lovely period building which has be lovingly restored. It is again a functioning mosque. For more information: http://abdullahquilliam.com/

No, it's not a wahabi mosque. As long as you are clean and well presented and in modest attire you will be most welcome.

If you have an issue with the call to prayer, have a word with the mosque committee and they shall tone it down. In Islam we don't harass or upset our neighbours.
