Unique sculpture that evokes that time in recent history when many immigrants passed through the city of Liverpool on their way to start a new life in Ireland and North America.

Need to know the history and read about it before visiting as it's just a pile of suit cases on the ground. It's not a busy or typical attraction in Liverpool.

I had read about this when researching what to do in Liverpool and then promptly forgot all about it. So it was a very pleasant surprise when we stumbled upon it whilst traversing between the two cathedrals via Hope Street. The why and wherefore has...More

Imagine a whole load of cases dumped on a city centre pavement. Outrageous you might think but with artistic licence, the Hope Street, Liverpool art installation is a thought-provoking, social statement and reminder of the immigrants who sailed from the port of this great city....More

The cases depict the luggage of the many immigrants that left Liverpool for a new life in America or Ireland. I think they are good and create a lot of interest from visitors to Hope Street.

Standing at the corner of Hope Street and Mount Street, perhaps the cases symbolise the journey of faith between the city's two incredible cathedrals. Certainly they're a quirky monument to this seafaring city and its dubious history of slavery. It also pays homage to the...More

So random! I liked reading all the passenger tags. Worth a look if you're passing. Not far from the Cathedral.
