English Heritage audioguides are free, once you have paid the admission fee, and are generally excellent. But I was disappointed by the audioguide at Lincoln’s medieval bishops’ palace. Despite a boast that it is an award-winner, it seems inferior to those I have used at other EH sites. The basic historical information is fine, but the audioguide is bedevilled by... More

Interesting place to visit, though not sure if I would have felt so if we weren't EH members. We visited in rainy weather, which wasn't ideal for visiting ruins, and the signage wasn't that great.

This is a very historically important ruin and is linked to the cathederal across the road. As members of English Heritage, we didnt have to pay for entry so I am unsure of the price, but as with all EH ruins, take an audio guide to direct you around the site in a chronological order. Bing a ruin there is... More

Fascinating ruin exemplifying the magnificence and wealth of the mediaeval Church. Well sign boarded but audio tours were provided. Worth having a quick look at the exhibition next to the shop to get your bearings before you go in. Also it's where the kids dressing up bit is - first place our daughter heads for!!! There were some interesting details... More

Being fairly local I had been to Lincoln many times and missed out of visiting the Palace. Finding time on a sunny Sunday afternoon we decided to pop in. We opted for the hand held audio tour which is included with the entrance fee, this did bring the Palace to life with its musical and vocal background.

Really enjoyed the Palace. We had the audio guide. Got a bit confused where the first place we should be was. I would getdirections for that one from staff then plain sailing. Not a place for people who have problem with uneven paths and large steps. Glad we went.

Please update your signs - very confusing info given on boards outside. We turned up when closed as a result!

As members it was free so can't say if its worth the money. But if its this or the over priced near by Cathedral than it wins hands down. As with all English Heritage sites take the free audio guided. Together with the free small information area off to the side of the shop. They help to bring to life... More
