This is a great piece of English heritage - next to the amazing cathedral - and this is our second visit free of charge via the medieval market during Lincoln's Christmas market. Great atmosphere and lots of history - despite the conservation works - which...More

We visited Lincoln to see the cathedral and the palace. It was however shut due to conservation work and it does say that on the EH website. However, knowing how long it takes to get planning permission I think that EH could have put the closed...More

Just s few minutes downhill from the cathedral, the Bishops Palace has commanding views over the city. The old buildings are in use today as a hotel and conference centre, and the remains of some of the ancient buildings are still there to see.

Unfortunately most of the bishops palace is closed at present but it is free to enter the tower. There is a film to watch about the history and importance of the palace which is worth watching. Lovely staff

Please be aware that the site is partly closed. This is due to essential works, to stop the palace from falling over! Anyway, on the day I visited it was not partly closed. It was completely closed. D'Oh! This was due to a concert in...More

Due to problems with a damaged wall, we think, the palace was partly closed. All you can see is a bit of a tower and walls of the west hall. Not able to go in the garden which should have great views. Check web site...More

My wife and I visited Lincoln Medieval Bishops' Palace during our week's holiday to Lincolnshire. It's stands almost in the shadow of Lincoln Cathedral and the entrance is opposite through a gate in a large stone wall which led us through a lovely garden to...More
